Running Intel Matrix Storage Manager v8.8

Had a hard drive reported as failed.

used the 'Mark as Normal' option, and tried rebuilding to it.

This appears successful, but then reported the array as 'Degraded'

I replaced this drive with a new one - rebuilding to the new drive

ran - took almost 12 hours, but now, the matrix manager still shows
a missing drive.

The Matrix Manager software shows the volume as 'degraded' but all 3 drives report as normal

Everything running real slow -

Any help ?

Sorry Peter - everything I have found and read said 8.9 was a problem, and everyone that downgraded to 8.8

it fixed their issue - i'll try 8.7 next.

Thanks ever so much -

(fingers crossed !)

Yes it seems some had problems with 8.8 but at the time only some had a problem then 8.9 increased the problem.

I had the same problem running Version 8.8, on my RAID 10 array of 4 Hard Drives. I pulled the "missing Drive" from my server, installed it in a different machine, ran diagnostics on it and found that there were no problems. When I reinstalled it in the Server, I still had a display "Missing Drive" Port 1 from IMSM in Windows and "Member Offline" in the Startup Controller Display.

At the bottom of the left panel Advanced Display Console, it was listed under Non Raid. If I right clicked on the drive, my Options were:

Activate Port LED

Mark as Non Raid Drive

I chose the option to Mark as Non Raid. Immediately after, Windows (V7) recognized it as a new Local Drive and assigned it a drive letter. Next, Intel Storage Matrix displayed a Pop Up, "You must format this drive before you can use it." I Clicked on yes to Format the drive, ignored the warnings of losing data (assuming this was a mirror, not a master), and chose quick Format. After the Format Completed, Intel Storage Matrix added it back in the Array list and began the RAID Rebuild which is running as I type (Past Experience dictates it will run for about 18 hours unitl Status = Normal).

Hope this helps

Hi,

Did anyone ever provide a resolution to this issue?

I have a 4 drive RAID 5.

One of the 320GB drives died and i succesfully rebuilt to a 750GB drive. The 750GB drive died and all i had was a 500GB drive and i figured that would be ok since the original was a 320GB. The IMSM rebuilt to the drive without issue but the IMSM 8.8 or 8.9 (I have tried both) still says that a drive is missing and that the array is degraded. I have removed the 500GB drive and inserted a 1TB drive instead, rebuilt succesfully but the IMSM still shows degraded due to a missing drive.

Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated.
