Windows 8: ATI+INTEL

Like mane others I have some troubles with my Intel graphic driver, but my problem a little bit different

So, after upgrading to win8 I find out that my intel graphic card isn't working. When I'm trying to enable it my screen blinks and after that I see my "welcome window". Then I realized that all that time I used ATI card.

From this point on I've started trying to understand how can I enable my Intel card, i've been trying many drivers from this site and others. Finally it started to work, but at first i couldn't change brightness, so I changed drivers. It helped, but now my battery loses really quickly (for example, on Windows 7 it worked almost 5 hours, now it just 1 hour, even ATI card works 2.5 hours). Also now I can't change my graphic card to ATI, because Catalyst Control Center doesn't work.

Summary: what can I do to make my Intel card work without this monstrous eating battery charge and with ability to switch between ATI and Intel?

Forget to mention, I have Intel HD3000 + Radeon HD6730M

Two things I'm noticing from this;

* You are using a laptop that is either custom built, or simply isn't showing your manufacturer/model in the dxdiag?

* Your Intel® processor is not being used as a display device (does not show up in the display device field) and it looks like you're solely using the Radeon as your graphics controller. If you have switchable graphics, it maybe that you have to switch back to the HD 3000 in order for it to show up properly in the report. If you can, please provide just the Display Device section of the report after you've switched back to HD 3000.

Thanks for providing that information. Your system is set to a 'balanced' power setting as opposed to the 'power saver' setting. You can change that from the Control Panel under "Power Options". That's one way to increase your battery life.

However, I also have a feeling that because you're now using your CPU as your CPU + GPU, and the discrete graphics card (Radeon) is still receiving power, you're really just making your machine pull double duty. Even if you disable the graphics card, it will still consume power, leading to an increased draw on your system.

"Power saver" setting doesn't help, I mean nothing changed even a little bit.

About double work: when I used Windows 7 it was all fine, problems appeared only in Windows 8. Looks like that my driver for intel doesn't work properly, because if I use Radeon card my battery works longer than if I use Intel.

Also, I have a soft "Battery care" that shows me level of discharge. Avarege level on Windows 7 was nearly 8v, but now its about 34v. For example, discharge level of Radeon doesn't change, even become smaller from 19v to 16v

Which driver were you using that you previously stated did not allow you to change brightness/etc, BUT gave you good battery life? Was it a Win8 driver?

That's not correct. Good battery life was only in Windows 7, driver was 8.811.1.0. But from the moment when I installed Windows 8 no one driver worked fine.

1st driver blinked and doesn't work at all. Using 2nd driver I couldn't change brightness and my battery uncharged fast too. 3rd driver let me change brightness, but it doesn't help to increase battery life.

Also, I used a basic Microsoft (WDDM) driver, it has a same result

My point is that no one driver works how it should and as a result actually I'm using Intel card without any driver

You'll most likely see a performance increase by going back to your OEM provided drivers. Does DNS support Windows 8?

Actually I am using standard drivers that they gave me. Officialy it works only on Windows 7, but in my case they all works fine except Intel (This is the driver that blinks and doesn't work at all).

Is there any way to fix my problem? Manufacturer doesn't provide new drivers and new drivers from this site don't work. I just want to use your graphic card on new OS that I bought for the best perfomance and now it looks like I wasted my money. Why Intel can't make driver that will work on my laptop and why manufacturer has to do so? Even if it's manufacturer job, than why you can't coerce them to make new drivers or at least made your own?

It's shame that so big and famous company cannot make solution for its consumer
