Max and Arboo, Thank you for your feedback on this matter, I'm forwarding this to the developers to make sure this is included in the next official release.

Thank you.

I just bought a MSI Z87I and a Intel 4770K CPU with 4600 HD Graphic chip

I have a Apple LED Cinema screen connected to the board using the Display Port.

My problem is that when the screen turns off after 5 min, it goes black, but the backlight is still on. On my old computer an Intel DH67CF with a Intel Sandy bridge T Model cpu (cant exactly remember the same) with 2000 HD graphic its working just fine on Windows 7.

What I have tried on my new computer is the following

Tried different driver from Intel webside and manufactur webside - Same issue when powersaving

Tried to install both Windows 7 and Windows 8 - Same issue.

Tried to connect my LG TV using the HDMI cable - same issue on this screen, so its not related to my Apple monitor

I think the issue is related to Intel graphic driver.

Do others have the same issue and maybe a solution for it ?

/Henrik

Hi,

My name is Max and i have an Asus Z87-A with a Core i5 4670k using the intel HD graphics 4600.

One of my two display is a Sony Playstation 3D display ( http://us.playstation.com/ps3/accessories/sony-playstation-3d-display-ps3/index.html PlayStation® 3D Display with SimulView™ Technology | PS3™ Accessories -PlayStation® ) connected via HDMI and i am having the same issue. I do have to mention that there's no specific drivers for this one since Sony never really bothered to develop a driver for it. So the driver shows as Generic PnP Monitor in device manager. If i go in the information center of the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, the 3 Power management support options are showing as unsupported.

If anyone has a fix on how to correct this problem, it would be very appreciated. I find it a bit unpleasant to have to remember to shut down the screen when i'm not using the computer. Having the backlight turned on can't be good on the long run.

Also, as my paste below will show, my Benq GW2450 (DVI) with Benq drivers installed, which is an actual computer screen, doesn't support all of the power management options. However, this isn't really an issue since it's properly going to standby when sleeping.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

Report Date: 9/16/2013

Report Time[hh:mm:ss]: 11:10:38

Driver Version: 10.18.10.3262

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 Pro with Media Center(6.2.9200)

Default Language: French (Canada)

Installed DirectX* Version: 11.1

Supported DirectX* Version: 11.1

Shader Version: 5.0

OpenGL* Version: 4.2

Physical Memory: 16063 MB

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz

Processor Speed: 3406 MHz

Vendor ID: 8086

Device ID: 0412

Device Revision: 06

* Processor Graphics Information *

Processor Graphics in Use: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

Video BIOS: 2170.0

Current Graphics Mode: 1920 by 1080

* Devices Connected to the Graphics Accelerator *

Active Digital Displays: 1

Active Digital Televisions: 1

Do you mean i should uninstall intel's hd graphics driver?

Thanks

Max

No change (as expected).

Please provide a new driver version that will take care of that issue, as it's reducing our display's lifespan.

Thanks,

Max

Max_x2, links to our latest generic driver was posted above when being offered to GZZ. Driver version 9.18.10.3257.

These URLs are:

For x32 bit operating systems:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23105 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23105

For x64 platforms:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23106 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23106

GZZ, so the issue still persists even with Microsoft's generic drivers too. In that case allow me to further investigate on this and see what else we may try.

Something I also notice is that after the computer has been in sleep mode overnight and comes back, then my monitor wont sleep at all.

I have downloaded Nircmd - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html - and it has a command called "nircmd.exe monitor off" which does exactly the same as when windows turn off my monitor. But when running this command after a night in windows sleepmode the screen goes black for like 1 second before turning on again, so my monitor wont even sleep. The only way to fix this issue is to reboot my computer, then it will sleep again.

Offcourse this has nothing to do with backlight is still on, no matter what.

I came a bit closer to a 'solution' as its not a real solution, but hopefully something usefull for the intel people to locate the driver error.

So what I did was to skip Windows 8 and try install Windows 7 64 bit. Just after install and without installing any driver/updates I tried my nircmd64 script mention in the above post. Backlight now turn off, so far so good. I then install the newest driver (ver 3257) and rebooted. I then tried again and this time backlight didnt turn off, as this was the >only< driver I installed, I am pretty sure the error is inside this driver. So I uninstalled intel driver again and rebooted and using windows 7 default driver backlight is turning off. So you might ask what driver does windows 7 use as default and this is what I got from the Device manager

Display Adapter

Name: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

Driver Date: 21-06-2006

Driver Version: 6.1.7600.16385

Monitor

Name: Generic PnP Monitor

Driver Date: 21-06-2006

Driver Version 6.1.7600.16385

I hope this is useful in finding a solution to the problem.

Max_x2 and GZZ, could you please tested with the latest generic beta drivers for Win8.1?

This driver will work on Windows 7/8 as well, (3282). You can get it from the following links:

32-bit: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23195 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23195

64-bit: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23194 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23194

Hey Diego ,

BOOM! Problem solved. My Sony now goes into sleep, great work!

So i'm guessing the update will roll out soon. I'm very, very pleased to see such a quick problem resolution from Intel. Thanks a lot

Max

Sorry for the delay, as my account was locked out.

I can also confirm that the beta driver is working just like it should with the backlight turning off. Also no issue with monitor sleep after computer has been suspended (sleep mode).

Thank for the support.
