Not sure if it will help anyone else, but I figured out a solution. It appears if I kill or do not allow the "persistencethread.exe" process to run, the computer is able to maintain the screen brightness I choose w/ the brightness adjustment function keys on the netbook.

I have a Graphics Accelerator 500 on an Acer Aspire One 751h running Windows XP SP3. My problem is that when I adjust the brightness, the adjustment holds for about 15 seconds and then it goes back to the standard setting.

I have made sure I have the latest drivers installed. Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone know a solution?

Also, just installed the latest driver released last week. It is version 6.14.11.1012 of the Intel driver for Windows XP Pro. With it installed I do not have the stop the "persistencethread.exe." process.
