GfxUI crashes..

Hello,

whenever i start windows, it runs very slowly until it says "gfxui doesnt work any more" and "close program". this message comes about 1min after windows started. after i click "close program" everything works fine...

Sometimes the message doesn't come up by itself then i have to click the display-driver symbol at the taskbar and choose "properties", that makes the "gfxui doesnt work..." "close program"-message appear.

I'm using an intel i3 CPU with Intel HD-Graphics. OS is windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I found out that gfxui.exe is part of the intel HD graphic driver.

I tried newest dipslay and chipset drivers.

I reinstalled windows x64 2 times in order to find out if any other driver or software affect the intel driver.

I updated windows to newest state.

I deactivated and reactived .net framework 3.5.1. (some people in other forums having problems with gfxui where told to do that..)

I installed .net framework 4.0.

I even tried windows 7 x86 version.

I deactivated windows defender

Nothing helped, still the same problem.

Even if the first things i install on the OS are the chipset and graphic drivers, the same problem occures. It alwas occures after installing the display-drivers.

Sometimes there are problems with unistalled devices in device-manager: i have drivers for all devices, so its not that.

The strangest thing is: when i install the display driver windows asks me to restart. If i do the restart, windows will start without any problems ONE time, even the gfxui.exe seems to work that one time because i can open the display-driver-menu via the small symbol at the taskbar and click "properties", without getting the message "gfxui.exe doesnt' work...". But the next time i restart, even without changing anything, the problem occurs again...

If any one got any idea, please tell me, I have absolutely no clou how to continue.

I have the same problem.

Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H motherboard, intel I3 540 CPU running at 3.07GHz, CPU 4GB DDR3 ram, windows XP 64 Pro SP2

This is the message that appears

Is it the same message as you get?

Same problem. Intel I3-540 + Gigabyte H55M-USB3.

The system on booting seems slow to respond to clicking. After finished booting, then the popup from the system tray stating the Video Driver stopped working and has recovered.

Tried different versions of vga driver, both from Giga and from Intel.

I guess there is some compatibility problem in VGA driver, need a fix from Intel!

yeah, got that one too. you need to install .NET 3.0 and that's it, everything works now.

That didn't work for me...

I had .net 2.0 and 3.5 already installed. removed 3.5, installed 3. still the popup apears

After each boot up and then subsequent login to each user account i receive a dilog box entitled "USER ACCOUNT CONTROL" with the message: "Do you want toallow the following program to make changs to your computer" It is GfxUI.

When i click on "Show Details", i get the following info:

program name: UserAccountControlSettings

Verified publisher: Microsoft

Program location: c:\windows\system32\useraccountcontrol/apply settings

when i viewed the certificate, it was valid from 10/22/2008 until 1/22/2010

any way to clear this up? it has just started happening the past few weeks!

After saying yes, all is well, but the bigger pain is that when my kids logon for the first time after a reboot, they get the message and they only way to get it to go away is to type in my password since I am the administrator of my pc and they aren't so they cannot answer the question!

Any help would be appreciated!

We just started experiencing the same problem yesterday. I took it as a fluke at first but when my user called about it this morning, I knew we had a problem. While this is a fairly new computer for him (deployed in the last month) and his first Windows 7 machine, he swears that the first time he saw this UAC dialog was this morning.

Any clue what's happened? Did MS release a patch that is mucking with the Intel graphics control panel? Or is there an update to GFxUI.exe that is needed?

Anybody have a clue?

I did not fixed the problem but only escaped from it: I was using a DVI cable, now I'm using a VGA cable (from my mobo with integrated VGA) and problem does not appear any more.

Cannot understand why.

I have a Compaq Windows 7 purchased last June. Warranty expired June 13th 2011 and the GfxUI stopped working

June 17th 2011. As I have been searching for a fix I see alot of others have this problem.

I called support but they will not help unless I pay $99 for continued warranty. Or $49 for two weeks help.

This is obviously a defect of theirs (sort of like a car parts recall). They should be helping everyone for free. All they

need to do is post how to fix it and walaaa, it's fixed. But no, they want to make $100 off everyone. Greedy SOB's

My gfxui shows up a very startup and I am not sure just why it does. I have trid to locate it with no luck.Hope yoy can help me get the supject itwm to work or disapear.

I had, repeat had, the same problem GFXUI has stopped working. I updated drivers galore, but alas nothing worked. I also called Microsoft security help line on another matter, but they also gave me a bandaid fix.

Then, in complete despiration I talked to a Microsoft security engineer in India who gave me the best advice, REINSTALL Windows 7 on my PC. Although the security issue still lingers, the GFXUI stoppage has vanished.

Now all I have to do is load all the software I had on the PC before the reinstall. At least I do not have the GFXUI stoppage appearing every time I boot the PC. If you are not familiar with a OS reinstall, the former Win 7 is placed in a folder Windows.old where you will find your data files. I have not figured all this out yet because I am still working to reinstall all my needed programs, but I believe I am better off today with the opportunity to tone down the software glut I had on the PC.

I hope my experience will help you and others.

I have this same very annoying problem when starting up. Drivers are all up to date.... any ideas on how to fix?
