My new Dell Inspiron 64 bit 15R221 laptop with Intel 4000 worked on day one with HDMI to TV, continued to work Jan 24-March 10 then quit, followed all hints, two different TVs, two different cables; finally downloaded Intel update recommended by Intel online analysis, rebooted, no improvement, then after second reboot TV appeared, I closed the laptop (sleep mode) and came back later, opened the laptop, TV carried message that computer had crashed, on reboot subsequently no HDMI connection (does not detect second screen). It's under warranty-- I wonder if Dell will fix it? Help!

After installing the latest drivers from Intel HD Graphics 4000 is no longer output the picture on TV connected via HDMI. When removing intel driver and install a standard driver windows 7 TV through HDMI works in clone mode desktop. If start the installation of the latest drivers from Intel after installation and before rebooting the PC it works perfectly - there is an image on the TV, it can be configured as a clone mode and the extended desktop mode, but after rebooting the image on the TV disappears. How to make the TV displays the image after restart the PC with the latest drivers Intel HD Graphics 4000?

CPU - core i5 3570K

MotherBoard - Gigabyte Z77-DS3H

Win 7 64bit

No discrete graphics card

TV - Philips 32PFL8404H

Message was edited by: Timur&# 13;

Hi Timur,

Can I confirm that this is what is happening: Installing our driver and rebooting = no display. Installing Windows driver = display. Installing our driver after installation of Windows driver = display working until reboot, then no display?

Is this correct?

Thanks,

-Nic

I got the same problem with HDMI. When i (re)install the drivers the laptop recognizes my LG tv and i can mirror my laptopscreen. But when i restart my laptop, the tv gives back 'no signal'. This happens all the time.

Please help because reinstalling the drivers everytime can't be the solution.

I got a Asus Vivobook X202e.

Thanks in advance.

Just copy & paste it here so I can take a look.

Also, Timur; are you using an AMP or AV/R, or is this a straight-thru connection?

Thanks,

-Nic

Hi Timur,

Can I confirm that this is what is happening: Installing our driver and rebooting = no display. Installing Windows driver = display. Installing our driver after installation of Windows driver = display working until reboot, then no display?

Is this correct?

Thanks,

-Nic

Yes, but:

Installing Windows driver = display only clone mode

Installing intel driver on windows7 with installed intel driver = display working until reboot

use this with installed intel driver:

c:\devcon\devcon.exe disable PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0162&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_09\3&11583659&1&10

c:\devcon\devcon.exe enable PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0162&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_09\3&11583659&1&10

display working until reboot

I have the same exact problem under Windows 8. My second display is a Sony TV connected via HDMI.

In order to get it to work, I have to either uninstall the driver OR roll-back the driver OR re-install the driver and NOT restart Windows. As soon as I restart, then the issue is the same. When I install the newest intel driver and BEFORE restarting, the Intel Graphics suite recognizes my TV brand and displays "SONY TV" and the display looks perfect. As long as my computer doesn't sleep or restart, then it works, otherwise, I have to trigger it by re-installing the driver.

Having said that, the HDMI output always works when I start up my computer, the bios and the windows loading logo show fine, but as soon as Windows loads, the display goes off my TV. I have tried setting extended display, clone mode, or just second screen, but none work.

This is becoming really annoying and it's good to see that it's not just me with this issue. I hope this issue gets solved soon.

Hi Nic,

Rolling back the driver just triggers it to work before a restart/sleep, so it's the same issue, I'm using the roll-back button on the driver properties window, which I believe rolls it back to the previous version of intel's driver or the windows default driver. Nevertheless, I get best results when I install the latest intel driver, since the roll-back does trigger the display to work but I have to adjust the horizontal/vertical boundaries.

In addition, I also tried using the "devcon restart" mentioned by a couple of people, but that does not seem to work.

Below is the dxdiag info you requested:

------------------

System Information

------------------

Time of this report: 1/28/2013, 19:00:44

Thanks for that information Ahmad.

@Ahmad & kevinkromhaut: Can you both also provide me a copy of your GMCP Report? (Ctrl + Alt + F12 to open CUI -> Options and Support -> Information Center -> Save -> Copy & Paste it here). I would like to see how/what your systems are recognizing your HDMI connected monitors as.

Thanks,

-Nic

Hi Nic,

I will create two replies, since I grabbed the information you requested after a fresh install (working condition) and one after a restart (not working condition), so that you could compare both. This reply has the 'Working condition' which is just possible after a fresh install/re-install of the latest driver.

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Report Date: 1/29/2013

Report Time[hh:mm:ss]: 21:44:53

Driver Version: 9.17.10.2932

Operating System: Windows 8 (6.2.9200)

Default Language: English (Canada)

DirectX* Version: 11.0

Physical Memory: 3993 MB

Processor: Intel64 Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9

Processor Speed: 2494 MHz

Vendor ID: 8086

Device ID: 0166

Device Revision: 09

* Processor Graphics Information *

Processor Graphics in Use: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Video BIOS: 2143.0

Current Graphics Mode: 1600 by 900

* Devices Connected to the Graphics Accelerator *

Active Digital Televisions: 1

Active Notebook Displays: 1

Hi Nic,

I discovered one more thing which might shed some light on the issue. Usually, in order to get my second (TV) display working, I just run the driver installation and half way through the installation, the second display kicks in.

Today, I was installing the driver, but my HDMI cable was not connected to the laptop, so after the installation, and before I had restarted, I connected the HDMI cable and expected it to work, but that did not work!!! So, it seems that in order for it to work, the HDMI cable HAS to be connected 'during' the driver installation.

Have you guys found the issue or are you still trying to reproduce this problem?

Thanks for the replies you two.

@Ahmad, we're still looking into the issue. You said when you install the driver with one monitor unplugged, that plugging in the second display afterwards does not bring it up. However, what I want to know is in this situation, can you then try and re-enable setting up your dual monitors? Opening the GMCP -> Display -> Multiple Displays. Disable & then re-enable primary/secondary, extended (or clone if that's your thing) desktop mode, apply, etc. Let me know if this works, because it might just be that installing the driver blows out the old settings and they need to be re-applied.

Thanks,

-Nic

Hi Nic,

I tried what you suggested but no luck. So here is what happens. First of all, when I go to GMCP -> Display -> Multiple Displays , the only option I see is "Single Display"... To get around that, I try the Windows 8 project to screen, via (Windows Key + P) and select either 'Duplicate' or 'Extended'. once I change it through Windows, GMCP automatically updates and displays 3 options (Single/Clone/Extended) and correctly sets the selected one to the one I chose via Windows. I tried switching between the different modes in GMCP and clicking Apply, but no luck. In addition, once I select Single through GMCP, it removes the other options (Clone & Extended).

I hope the info is useful.
