@nic: Yes, I tested the latest Intel Driver that was submitted to Windows Update. When I saw the thread, I had rolled back the driver to the factory shipped version, then updated to the Toshiba released version. I can update the driver to the one from Windows Update again and retest for you with the DxDiag information for the newest driver if that is where you were heading.

I have the Lenovo Yoga 13 w/i7, 8GB RAM, and Integrated Intel HD 4000. The Directv2pc works no problem on other systems but not this new Lenovo. Any advice on how to enable the screen capture protection? Let me know if any debugging info is desired. Thanks.

Hi BW,

Can you give me a detailed description of what exactly the issue is thats occurring? Also, can you include some steps to reproduce your issue?

Additionally, can you post a copy of your dxdiag on top of that? (Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Save All Information). Just copy & paste it here and I'll take a look.

Thanks,

-Nic

I use the Directv2PC app from Directv that is just a content player allowing you to connect to your DVR and play your recorded shows on your pc/laptop on your local network. I can use this on my old laptop which is XP Pro no problem. I have the Win 8 Pro version of the app on my new laptop - Lenovo Yoga 13 Ideapad. App runs fine and sees all of my content. I just get the following error when I select play for any of the content. The laptop has the Intel HD Graphics 4000 Integrated Video card and I am just displaying on the laptop built in screen. The error I get is below.

The steps to reproduce are as follows:

1. Start Directv2pc app

2. Select DVR from list of DVRs in my home

3. Select recorded show from list

4. Click Play

5. Error pops up

DXDIAG:

------------------

System Information

------------------

Time of this report: 1/8/2013, 19:22:30

I confirm the problem on my system too.

I have a new PC based on i7 3770 with HD 4000 integrated graphics enabled running Windows 7 Pro with the latest Intel HD 4000 driver (as of 1/11/13).

When I run the DIRECTV2PC Advisor it flags the Intel HD 4000 driver as not HDCP compliant.

Forging ahead, I run the DIRECTV2PC app anyway and successfully browse the recorded programs on the networked HR24 DVR. But when I play a selection (most are HD) I get the sound from the selected program but not the video portion .. instead I just get a green screen.

Is there an update to HD 4000 driver or is it just the DIRECTV2PC app that is behind the times?

I have the exact same issue with my Intel HD 4000 as BW and it is reproduced on my system in the exact same way. The only difference is that I'm on a Sony VAIO Tap 20 SVJ20215CXW also running Windows 8. I have other computers in my home running Windows 7 and Vista that have no issues running DIRECTV2PC.

Thanks for that info BW. Can you try the driver provided by your OEM and let me know if it fixes your issue?

nic... That install has the same graphics driver as what I have and the audio is a downgrade from what the factory shipped driver is. I have also run the option on my system to check for newer drivers, and it says I have the latest available from the OEM. Intel has a couple newer versions, but I was advised not to put them on as they have not been approved by lenovo and they have no mention in the release notes of my problem. Any other ideas?

Thanks

The driver version you have installed is .2867, whereas the driver I'm pointing you to is .2843 - the difference though is that .2867 is an Intel® generic driver, and the other one is certified compatible by your OEM. Our driver, being generic - may not be the best fit for your system. I would recommend trying the one provided by the OEM over ours, to see if it fixes the issue or not.

Thank you,

-Nic

@Nic: Thanks for the response. I have installed the driver for the HD 4000 from my OEM's site, found here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=SVJ20215CXW&LOC=3# /downloadTab Sony eSupport - SVJ20215CXW - Support, http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=SVJ20215CXW&upd_id=8022&os_group_id=24 Sony eSupport - SVJ20215CXW - Drivers & Software

I can tell it made some difference because it resolved an issue I was having with brown squares in the app Fresh Paint.

Okay, something new to try.

@BW & AMW: You are running Windows* 8, which from what I can tell is not something Directv2PC supports (judging by their similar forum posts and listed system requirements). There are some suggestions though, to try running it in WinXP* Service Pack 3 mode though. Right click your app file -> Properties -> Compatability Tab - set to run incompatibility mode for WinXP SP3.

Other than that, I would suggest trying to run it in Win7* r XP* since those are the two listed supported OS's.

Let me know how it goes.

-Nic

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I am running Intel HD 4000 driver 2067 on an Asus P8H77V based computer.

I tried DIRECTV2PC on the original Asus driver before updating to the "latest" Intel driver .. no difference. DIRECTV2PC claims that the HD4000 driver is not HDCP compliant and proceeds to display only the green screen and audio from the selected DVR recording.

Below is my DxDiag dump, if it helps.

Thanks for the info Tzarigor. It looks like you have the most up to date BIOS. To clarify what you said earlier, have you tried using the Asus* latest driver (.2828), and it didn't work? The current driver you have .2867 is neither the latest for Intel* or for Asus*, is why I ask.

If you haven't, can you verify that you still experience the problem after trying both these drivers;

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22375&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22375&lang=eng

&

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=P8H77-V&hashedid=pyK8GYR86uLuG6uC http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=P8H77-V&hashedid=pyK8GYR86uLuG6uC

Also, are the steps for reproducing the issue for you the same as they are for BW (listed above)?

Thanks,

-nic

Nic... no luck with any of those. I had XP Pro SP3 on my old laptop and it worked fine too. I tried running as admin which didnt work either. Directv told me that the Directv2PC app works fine on Win 8. They reiterated that the problem is the video adapter.

The ASUS video driver I was using before is the 2828 driver .. the latest that they have posted on their Web site .. I don't think that they have made any OEM mods from the Intel driver.

Currently I'm running the Intel video driver (2867).

No difference between the two drivers with respect to the DIRECTV2PC problem.

Unlike BW, I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Other graphics based programs (e.g., Photoshop) have no problems.

From what I read, there are only minor differences between my experience and BW's experience of the DIRECTV2PC problem.

@nic ... also wanted to note that I have had this working fine before for both Win XP and Win 7 systems. Both were Dell laptops with ATI video adapters. I have seen posts where people said Win 8 worked fine too with the app. I havent seen anywhere that this video card works for any streamed media content - all variations of this same screen capture protection not working.

There isnt much to note between our experiences. I have a laptop with the Intel HD 4000 integrated, so I dont have an option here to use a different adapter as I have seen others do in many posts. The Directv2PC app is very basic as just a simple streamed content player for their DVRs. It has worked on every system I have had as I said before until this one which had a different adapter than ATI. The app works fine with everything it is supposed to do. It just says the hardware wont support it.

BW gets an actual error message regarding "screen capture disable" problem. My display just flashes quickly to a green screen (no content) with normal DIRECTV2PC play/pause/advance buttons displayed and audio from selected content playing.

Of course, this happens only when I select content recorded in HD. Standard def content plays fine (since it is not subject to HDCP constraints).

Along with the DIRECTV2PC comes an "Advisor" program that checks the system for compatibility issues. It is the "Advisor" that flags the HD4000 driver as lacking in the "screen capture disable" feature.

Can Intel talk to DirecTV folks at a tech level?

Nic, I am having the same issue as BW and tzarigor. I have the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver (just downloaded over Christmas since my son built my computer) and I'm getting the "screen capture protection not supported" error. The adviser said my card was HDCP compliant but lacked this feature. Apparently some video cards allow you to turn off or disable video screen capture. Apparently, DTV wants to prevent us from making files of the shows we are watching on our computers. I looked through all of the options in the driver software and there is no mention of the ability to disable screen capture. What we all want to know is simple - does the card support disabling video screen capture and, if so, how do we do it to make DTV happy? (And yes, I do realize this is not a card, but is on board.)

Thanks!
