Actually this problems also appear as I play any DirectX 3D game. Same about Aero interface as it's uses DirectX 11. Built into Windows 7. On the other hand Vista has DirectX 10 built in. I had no chance to test Vista with the newest Intel drivers and the DirectX 11. Can anyone test it?

Have you tried loading the Vista 32 or 64 driver in Windows 7?

I also have this problem. I'm running an HP 6730b laptop which also has the GM45 chipset. I have the latest drivers, 8.15.10.1986, and still get this problem which is definitly related to Aero features. Switch Aero off and the problem goes away. Maybe the GM45 graphics are not powerful enough for Aero even though the documentation says they are or alternatively there is a bug in the driver software.

So it's definitely not a vendor problem. It's either drivers or windows.

Hi, I've an ACER Timeline Travelmate 8471 Laptop and I have the same artifacts problem on Windows x64 (with AERO disabled) when I resume from stand-by. The problem occurs with 8.15.10.1986 version of the driver; I reverted to the previous version and all works perfectly...so I think that this is a driver issue...

More precise information: the artifacts occur only when I put on Stand-By my laptop on battery and I resume from Stand-By after I plug it on AC. Then to resolve the artifacts issue I have to restart the Laptop

I had/have the same issue (x64, 2008R2). There are, as far as I have found, two ways to go about this problem (and still keep Aero)

1. Switch to 16-bit color depth.
2. Turn off virtualization support for the CPU (setting in BIOS)

I do not know why the latter works, but after doing this, I have not experienced any of the artifacts.

The answer is decribed here:

http://developer.intel.com/Assets/PDF/specupdate/320123.pdf http://developer.intel.com/Assets/PDF/specupdate/320123.pdf

We have to disable VT-d or Virtualization as a whole from the CPU chips. Look in the BIOS. Update your BIOS if you don't see it in there.
