Hi Gino,

I am sorry you are having problems trying to get the resolution in your system but let me help you.

The information you have provided is very helpful but there are some steps we can try. As per your question, VGA cables can handle a resolution up to 2k with the latest graphics controller but on the Intel® HD 4000 you should not encounter a problem when testing 1280x1024.

I recommend you testing a different VGA cable (good Quality). We have not received reports from other users and I personally have tested this and I have not been able to reproduce the problem. So please, try with a different VGA cable.

VGA should allow you to go up to 2048x1536 with HD 4000.

Hi,

I have a notebook Lenovo E531 with Intel(R) HD Graphic 4000, Win 8.1. I tried to link an external monitor via VGA to extend my desktop, but the resolution is very poor. The text is blurred and fuzzy.

I tried to link differents monitor and the situation goes little better with an old monitor 19', 4:3, with resolution 1280x1024. Monitor 16:9 with higher resolution are unusable!

I read some post: somebody says that VGA cannot support a resolution that exceeds 1280x1024.

It's correct? Or it's a possible driver problem?

I can solve the problem using HDMI output with HDMI-DVI adapter on the monitor?

I attach part of DxDiag output, if useful,

Thank you.

------------------

System
