Warzone 2100 with Intel HD drivers

I have a Toshiba laptop with Intel HD 5500 graphics. I keep getting an error when trying to play the game Warzone 2100. I am unsure how to update the drivers. I opened the HD Graphics 5500 Properties dialog and tried to update the driver and it said the latest driver is installed by allowing Windows to check for it.

It causes this error in the game log:

This game still has bugs and if you run into one, please use the bugtracker (http://developer.wz2100.net/ http://developer.wz2100.net/) to report this bug. In order to faster fix those bugs we require that you follow these rules:

If the game crashes you may save a memory dump. Please do so and upload it when reporting the bug. (Linux locates that file at /tmp/warzone2100.gdmp, Windows at /Program Files/Warzone 2100/warzone2100.RPT, Mac OS X by clicking "Details" in the crash error message) A self created backtrace is just as useful.
Give as much information about what you were doing before the crash/bug occured.
Try to reproduce the bug and add a description of the process to your bug- report.
You may even upload save-games. These consist of one or two file(s) and one folder. All two/three are named after your save-game (e.g. MySaveGame.es, MySaveGame.gam and the folder MySaveGame).
Bug-reports are not submit-and-forget. It may be that you forgot some information or forgot to upload a file. So it is, too, in your interest to watch the bug-report after it has been submitted. Additionally you receive e-mails of comments to your bug-report.

Hello @Mike_Dasky,

Could you please let me know your operating system and driver version you are running? Please go to Device Manger> Display adapters> Intel(R) HD Graphics right click on Properties and then go to Driver, you will be able to see the version installed.

My Windows version is Windows 10 Home Insider Preview, Build 14986.rs_prerelease.161202-1928

The video driver version is 20.19.15.4549

I cant update the drivers through the Intel update app because they are customized for my laptop. I have a Toshiba Model P55W-B5112.

There does not seem to be updated drivers from Toshiba.

Sorry it took so long to respond to this, but I am an over the road truck driver and needed access to my laptop at home to answer the question.

There is an option where you can install one of our driver using an specific method, this method will ensure the installation of our driver. Trying this driver will help cross out a possible driver issue, below you will find these two links;

Again, this did not work, I followed all the directions exactly, even though some of the dialog boxes were slightly different. It says the latest drivers are already installed, so either these drivers are not being installed, or there is an error with your drivers. This is starting to get annoying.

I understand, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

There is one more method you can try, find it below;

1. Login with administrator privileges

2. Open Control Panel

3. Open Device Manager

4. Click on "Display adapters"

5. Double click "Intel HD Graphics"

6. Click on the "Driver" tab

7. Click on "Update Driver" button

8. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software"

9. Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

10. Click on "Have Disk" button

11. Click "Browse"

12. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the Intel HD Graphics driver to

13. Navigate to the Graphics sub-folder

14. Double click the igdlh64.inf or igdlh.inf file <-- depends on if you have 32 or 64 bit OS

15. Click "OK"

16. Click "Next", Driver should now be installing.

17. If successful, click "Close", Reboot.

I would like to know if the issue is related to the game or the driver. In this case we can try with a different driver, and check if the the issue persists. The method mentioned above is different from the one posted previously.

Ok, If there was any question about this, I am using Windows 10. The instructions you gave me could not be followed directly because some of the options you listed are either changed or re-worded. Nevertheless, I got to the section where it asked to insert a disk and I navigated to the graphics sub directory. There was no file "igdlh64.inf" in that directory. However, there was one in a subdirectory of the "graphics" subdirectory called "Driver-Release-64-bit". I used the file in that directory, and the drivers updated. I rebooted my laptop as you directed and then tried to run Warzone 2100. It crashed again. I have the crash report, and it is very lengthy. To save space, I uploaded it to my OneDrive and made it shareable. It is in ASCII text format. Here is the link to the crash report:

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions, please ask. Since this did not fix my problem, I am going to go back to the driver setting and install the driver that is recommended for my laptop.

I found that here is an know issue that is fixed by turning off shaders or updating the drivers to the latest version. Since you already updated to the latest version the next thing to try is turning off shaders, if the issue persists then final step is report this in the Warzone 2100 Trac. Check "Help!
