Hello

I have a Dell 7510 laptop, with 6th Gen Core i7, and Intel HD 530 graphics. Windows 10 x64. Laptop also has a Nvidia Quandor M2000M. 32GB RAM.

I'm getting graphics drivers crashes so I'm trying to find the latest drivers. When it crashes, Windows freezes for 4-5 seconds then recovers, but with only one external monitor (the one on the right) active. Normally I sue two monitors, from a Dell docking station, with the display extended. I'm in 1920x1080 res.

The latest driver shown on the Dell website is version 0 ? $root.cmsData.detailsVersion + ' ' + VendorVer + ',' + DellVer : (DellVer != null && DellVer.length > 0) ? $root.cmsData.detailsVersion + ' ' + DellVer + ',' + DellVer : (VendorVer != null && VendorVer.length > 0) ? $root.cmsData.detailsVersion + ' ' + VendorVer + ',' + VendorVer : ''">10.18.15.4287. The latest version shown on the Intel website is 15.40.14.4352. However if I right-click the graphics card in Device Manager and choose to update, Windows finds version 20.19.15.4312. So I'm thoroughly confused,

Many thanks!

Jim

PS The specific crash is:

Fault bucket LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_igdkmd64.sys, type 0

Event Name: LiveKernelEvent

Response: Not available

Cab Id: 617df68c-61c7-48c9-bb41-d992c8237637

Problem signature:

P1: 141

P2: ffffe001d7ac4010

P3: fffff801dc666770

P4: 0

P5: 2b8

P6: 10_0_10586

P7: 0_0

P8: 256_1

P9:

P10:

Attached files:

C:\Windows\LiveKernelReports\WATCHDOG\WD-20160109-2010.dmp

C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-11308453-0.sysdata.xml

C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\WER8F6A.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml

These files may be available here:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\Kernel_141_d85cd1d95e123aca3a1c1865fdc7faa8124f2ca_00000000_cab_0b04a033

Analysis symbol:

Rechecking for solution: 0

Report ID: 0e171f21-b70d-11e5-9862-a434d9669bed

Report Status: 0

Hashed bucket:

Thanks Amy. I've no problem with *how* to install the drivers, it's more that I want to understand what I am installing. How can the Intel website list version 15.x as being the latest, but when I update the driver automatically from within Device Manager, Windows installs version 20.x and shows the drivers as being provided by Intel.

Which is the latest? You would think it was 20.x, but whey then does the Intel website say 15.x ?

Jim

The last four digits of the driver version will indicate the driver version, Intel uses the following schema to define the driver versions:

In your case the 20. means that you have Windows® 10 and the rest of digits indicate the DirectX* version and the build number.

For further reference http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005654.html?wapkw=understanding Understanding The Intel® Graphics Driver Version Number.

Regards,
