Hi Kevin,

many thanks for your interest into this problem.

I'm going to send you the details of my system, but please note a couple of important things:

I run Windows 10TP build 10049 with the latest available drivers from both Intel and Nvidia. I understand that this is still a system in development, but the problem is reported in ALL optimus system with Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 with all the set of drivers existent

My system, as the one of AFSFigueiredo, is based on Clevo. Manufacturer just provides standard drivers not customized.

The Nvidia Control Panel for Optimus system is not allowing to select the option 'Override the scaling mode set by games and programs''. This option solves the problem on desktop systems. I have been told that this option is not available in Optimus system because the output of the secondary card is sent to the primary and the scaling options should be managed in the Intel control panel. There is no such option in Intel Driver.

Unfortunately I confirm that I cannot find an available demo for the PC version.

Just one more thing: it looks like the issue is appearing on another recent famous game: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

I shall try to involve more people using Windows 8 on the issue.

Hello,

it is a fact that since Dragon Age Inquisition has been released in 2014, nobody with an Optimus Laptop with a mix of Intel Iris HD and Nvidia xx0m graphics card has been able to play this game in full screen.

A lot of words have been spent against Electronic Arts and Nvidia, there a couple of official threads on this issue in their respective communities, but nor EA nor Nvidia have ever replied.

A first suspect that the issue could reside in the Iris drivers was coming from the fact that desktop user has an option for scaling override in the Nvidia control panel, which solve the issue, while in laptop users the option is not present, because the scaling is of Intel card responsibility.

I finally had the confirmation that the issue resides in the intel driver when I removed it from Windows and made the Intel card running with a generic Windows driver and the game was finally running full screen.

In my case the problem appears starting from Windows 8 up to Windows 10TP 10049.

I have an Iris 4600 HD card together with a GTX980m

The driver is the latest: 15.36.18.64.4156

but the issue appears with any mix of Intel and Nvidia drivers.

It looks like the problem is not present in Windows 7.

Please Intel have a look into it, as it looks that scaling issues are not new in this forum and there are other cases reported.

Hello,

It is important to say that OEM drivers include special features that will work specifically for your computer. This is why installing the driver from the Computer Manufacture is very important.

You can try installing our generic driver but it does not include the special features from the OEM design. Here you can download the driver from our side: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24785/Intel-Iris-and-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24785/Intel-Iris-and-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit

For Systems with hybrid graphics configuration, it is extremely important to install the driver from the Computer Manufacture.

Remember that the computer will use the video card resources when running high performance applications like games so the scaling options of the game is handled by the video card not the Intel® HD graphics.

Please provide me with the graphics report, dxdiag report and system information. How to get it?

Dxdiag Report: Type dxdiag in Start Menu> open> Save> Attach using Advanced Editor Options.

System Information: Click Start> Type System Information> Click File> Export> Save File> Attach using Advanced Editor Options.

Graphics Report: Right click on desktop> Graphics Properties> Options> Drop Down Menu> Information Center> Save> Attach using Advanced Editor Options.

Provide me if possible a download link for me to get a demo of this game so I can test it from my side.

Kevin m

Hi,

Ok, i´ll update again my system to Windows 10 ( DAI works normally with Windows 7 ), my system is not branded, it is a Clevo Notebook system, just like a unbranded workstation, but in a notebook casing. It´s built by a Brazilian company called Avell, i´ve spoken with them, they just put the parts togheter, so all standard drivers ( from Intel and nVidia ) are the valid ones, no OEM tampering.

Once i finish the upgrade process, i´ll install this driver you suggested and build a zip file with the logs for you to take a look.

About the DAI demo, it seems it´s not available, but maybe if you speak with someone within EA they can give Intel a copy for research on this anoying issue.

Thank you very much, we are in a kind of a black hole, as this issue is shared among Intel, nVidia and EA ( because it only happens with systems that´s running windows 8 and up, with GTX 8xxM and optimus system).

[]s

Hi Kevin,

I´m having a hard time to change the driver ... The package i downloaded from the URL you pointed, says that :

" This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"

and when i try to use the "manual" update, pointing directly to the igdlh64.inf file , Windows says :

The folder you specified doesn´t contain a compatible software driver for your device ... ... make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based system .

But i could test with the 10.18.10.3383 , same issue

and the one Windows find´s on the auto-update , 10.18.15.4124, also presenting the issue.

I tryed the Intel Driver update utility, it downloads the 15.36.18.64.4156, it completes the installation, but when i restart, the active driver still the 10.18.15.4124

If i completely erase the Intel driver, Windows uses a generic one, and the game doesn´t switch to the NVidia GPU, but go to full screen.

I tested the 15.36.14.64.4080 as you mentioned on the other thread, it also "fakes" the installation, it completes the install, but when i reboot it stills the 10.18.15.4124.

Any tips ?

I am having the very same experience on AFSFigueiredo with changing the driver in Windows 10, with the only difference that I'm no more able to switch to the Windows Base Driver (I get a blue screen when I try).

I guess we shall have to wait for Windows 10 to be more stable and accept new versions of the driver.

I really hope that one of the many experiencing the problem in Windows 8 will show up to make some more tests.

One more thing, it is very strange that AFSFigueiredo is not able to run the game with the Nvidia card when the Windows Base Driver is installed. I'm starting to think that despite I forced the game to use the Nvidia GPU when I was with the basic driver for the Intel one, the full screen was working because the option was bypassed.

Despite all, the lack of scaling options in the Control panel for Optimus laptop must be a hint that something is wrong in the relation between Nvidia driver and Intel driver in Optimus laptops. Maybe a joint effort between the 2 companies would be the only solution.

I have the same issue with Intel HD Graphics 4600 and Nvidia 850m.

If I remove the driver Intel HD Graphics, the game starts to run in full screen.

Also, after installing the latest driver 15.36.19.64.4170 and reboot the computer in the Device Manager says that the installed driver - 10.18.14.4170.

We have replicated this issue and we are currently investigating.

EdwardMor,

Please try updating the driver from the Computer Manufacture since your system has Hybrid Graphics (switchable graphics) and it may need special drivers or configuration to work properly.

I updated the both the Intel and Nvidia drivers from the Asus support site. They looked to be the same versions I had before. The issue remains.

I see. Then it will be necessary to wait for a driver release from our side. Our Development team is working on this.

Just to share: I reversed back to Windows 8.1 cause I was having too many issues with drivers on Windows 10TP

I'm now running the latest Intel HD drivers 15.36.19.64.4170 and Nvidia 350.12 and still having the same issue.

Is there an ETA for a new Intel driver?

Thank you

I also have the same issue on my laptop: Gigabyte P34W V3, with intel integrated graphics and NVidia 970M.

There are countless mentions of this problem on such laptops with dual graphic cards, see for instance:

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/Cannot-run-in-full-screen-mode/td-p/3989581 http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/Cannot-run-in-full-screen-mode/td-p/3989581

https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/800459/geforce-mobile-gpus/dragon-age-inquisition-cant-go-full-screen-/ https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/800459/geforce-mobile-gpus/dragon-age-inquisition-cant-go-full-screen-/

Thanks

David

Same issue with intel HD4600 and Geforce 840m. I have the latest driver for each.

Edit: When I run the game on the Intel graphics card, full screen works fine, but when I set the geforce gpu to run the game, full screen goes to windowed mode.

My OS is Win 8.1 by the way.
