NUC6i3SYH h.265 encode-decode

Hi, I've a NUC6i3SYH with Intel HD 520 graphics.

My OS is Windows 10 Pro 64bit, graphics driver 20.16.15.4444.

I want use it as HTPC (decoding) and to convert video to h.265 video format (encoding).

To do it I use DVDFAB software that support intel quick sync hardware acceleration but I can't enable it into this software preferences: only HEVC software encoding (very slow) is supported.

I'm not sure IQS is enabled or not, is there a way to verify it's working?

Thank you for joining the Intel communities.

To be honest with you I'm not sure if the DVDFAB will support HEVC software decoding, at this point I suggest checking the requirements or configuration that you need to do with DVDFAB developers to find out which configuration needs to be done.

Please see if the documentation about the graphics from Intel can help you.

Thanks for your reply.

As you can see from my DVDFAB preferences settings, it can decode and encode HEVC but only software.

Skylake cpu supports HEVC hardware decode and encode functionality but I don't understand if need to activate they or not.

Could you tell me if there is a way to know if Intel Quick Sync is working?

Do you know if there is a video converter that supports HEVC hardware encoding and decoding?

You can try use this player: http://www.videohelp.com/software/PotPlayer PotPlayer 1.6.60136 / 1.6.60286 Beta - Download

It has option for software and hardware decoding. But you need to set it up for hardware decoding that if it is supported by the CPU.

On my i7 6700k it works ok.

As player I'm using Plex Media Server and it seems working with h.265 hardware decoding.

My problem is convert video from h.264 or full bluray to h.265 using the skylake hevc hardware encoding (Intel Quick Sync) but I don't know a converter that support it!

Ok I did some testing, and I found a problem.

Hardware decoding worked only when I was using DXVA hardware acceleration, but not when using quicksync.

So it seems that the quicksync it doesn't encode/decode H.265 content ...

I don't know if it is a bug in driver. I think Ivan can tell us why H.265 codec is not working when using quicksync directly, because in that documentation, on page 28, it's written that it should support it .

I think so!

Using DVDFAB that should support h.265 IQS encoding hardware acceleration don't show it among the possible choices.

Hi,

I've tried MediaCoder,

from the site: H.264/H.265 GPU accelerated encoding (QuickSync, NVENC, CUDA)

but when I selected h.265 Intel GPU encode I obteined at start "encoder error"

I'm afraid there're driver problems!

Last week I've changed my old graphics card with Nvidia GTX 960,

DVDFAB and MEDIACODER hardware hevc encoding worked perfectly!

Hi all,

I wasn't able to duplicate this issue with StaxRip. I was able to encode 4K videos (from h.264 to h.265) using Intel QuickSync without any noticeable issue.

Other encoding applications need to be optimized or at least patched to work properly with our technology.

I tried contacting DVDFab developer, but we do not have details on which DVDFab version is being used by you all. You can report this issue here: http://www.dvdfab.cn/contact.htm http://www.dvdfab.cn/contact.htm

In the meantime, I suggest you to test with StaxRip or different apps.
