Hi All,

I recently plugged in my new pc with i5-4690 processor connected via hdmi to my samsung 4k tv via a 4k capable receiver, but no matter what I attempt I can not pick a resolution higher than 1920x1080. i updated the intel drivers to the latest, tried to add a custom resolution (but it fails with an exceeded bandwith issue).

Does anyone have an idea why this could be happening? As far as I know the processor is capable of a 4k resolution and certainly all my other components (motherboard etc) are also capable of this. I even tried connecting a active Display Port to HDMi converter but it still only allows a non 4k resolution in the display settings.

I'm not sure what information to provide, but here is the graphics report

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

Report Date: Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Report Time [hh:mm:ss]: 2:16:53 PM

Driver Version: 10.18.14.4222

Operating System: Windows* 8.1 Pro (6.3.9600)

Default Language: English (United Kingdom)

Physical Memory: 16254 MB

Vendor ID: 8086

Device ID: 0412

Device Revision: 06

Video BIOS: 1035.0

Current Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz

Processor Speed: 3500 MHz

Processor Graphics in Use: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

Shader Version: 5.0

OpenGL* Version: 4.3

OpenCL* Version: 1.2

* Microsoft DirectX* *

Runtime Version: 11.2

Hardware-Supported Version: 11.1

* Devices connected to the Graphics Accelerator *

Active Displays: 1

* Digital Television *

Display Type: Digital

DDC2 Protocol: Supported

Gamma: 2.2

Connector Type: HDMI

Device Type: Digital Television

Supported Modes

720 x 480 (60p Hz)

720 x 480 (60i Hz)

720 x 576 (50p Hz)

720 x 576 (50i Hz)

1280 x 720 (60p Hz)

1280 x 720 (50p Hz)

1920 x 1080 (60i Hz)

1920 x 1080 (50i Hz)

1920 x 1080 (60p Hz)

1920 x 1080 (50p Hz)

Raw EDID:

00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 65 A8 9A 31 00 00 00 00

00 18 01 03 80 00 00 78 0A 0D C9 A0 57 47 98 27

12 48 4C 00 00 00 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01

01 01 01 01 01 01 01 1D 80 18 71 1C 16 20 58 2C

25 00 C4 8E 21 00 00 9E 01 1D 80 D0 72 1C 16 20

10 2C 25 80 C4 8E 21 00 00 9E 00 00 00 FC 00 52

58 2D 56 36 37 37 0A 20 20 20 20 20 00 00 00 FD

00 17 79 0F 5B 0F 00 0A 20 20 20 20 20 20 01 E8

02 03 39 74 4E 85 04 02 03 06 07 10 14 13 11 12

15 16 1F 38 09 7F 07 0F 7F 07 15 07 50 3E 1F C0

4D 02 00 57 06 00 67 7E 00 5F 54 01 83 5F 00 00

68 03 0C 00 10 00 80 21 00 8C 0A D0 8A 20 E0 2D

10 10 3E 96 00 13 8E 21 00 00 18 8C 0A D0 90 20

40 31 20 0C 40 55 00 13 8E 21 00 00 18 00 00 00

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 80

Please let me know if any other information is needed

* Other names and brands are the property of their respective owners.

Hi im85288, are you able to get 4K when the computer is directly connected to the TV, bypassing the receiver? It is possible that Windows* does not identify the TV model correctly due to the receiver, and therefore not giving the correct Extended Display Identification Data (EDID).

You should be able to get the following via HDMI*: 4096 x 2304, 3840 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 24bpp.

https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/quick-reference-guide-to-intel-processor-graphics Quick Reference Guide for Intel® Core™ Processor Graphics | Intel® Developer Zone

Hi, I just tried that and when that happens there is no picture at all available. The tv just displays a message like no hdmi cable inserted.

Very strange that I cannot connect the tv directly to the pc and get a picture.
