Have you gone into display settings in the Intel Control Panel after you updated and set it so it scales full screen?

There is auto scaling issue in Full-Screen mode ( usually in game ^-^ )

In NVIDIA, it is possible to scale game screen full-fittingly with fixed aspect ratio.

But, In Intel HD 4600 graphics driver... there is no way to fit game screen fully in FULL SCREEN MODE.

In Intel graphics, FIXED ASPECT RATIO only works when I set game resolution max to possible.

( In my system, max possible resolution is 1920 X 1080 and ONLY when I set IT on game, FIXED ASPECT RATIO works. )

But I believe it is not good solution because there are so many classic games having no option to change resolution.

Is it possible to auto scaling like NVIDIA in FULL SCREEN MODE ???

I guess what it happens

Intel persist that we have no fault. Maybe It's right but ... something important is missing. losing trust by customer ( like me ... )

Intel graphics send accurate signal to monitor !

Full-screen with 800 X 600 ? Intel shoot signal accurate with 800 X 600 @ 60Mhz !

Full-screen with 1024 X 768 ? Intel shoot signal accurate with 1024 X 768 @ 60Mhz !

But problem is not in graphics but in monitor.

If your monitor (or HDTV) is so cheap ( for example, made in china.. ) that there is no option to stretch image signal to fully in screen...

Then you can see very small image centered in monitor like following...

Problem is that there are so many users can not afford to have well-known brand monitor like SONY or LG or SAMSUNG...

So they have no way to stretch image signal !

In my opinion, That is reason why Issue about overscan ( stretching game scene fully ) is raising continuously...

you can say ... yeah. Intel graphics has no issue. so buy new well-known monitor ! it costs 600 bugs only !

..... but How NVIDIA solve this problem wisely ??

NVIDIA graphics offers overdrive scaling option. and it's mere guess work but maybe shoot signal to monitor with constant resolution regardless game resolution !

My monitor's resolution is 1920 X 1080 and game's resolution is 800 X 600.

NVIDIA shoot game scene to monitor with 1920 X 1080 @ 60 MHz constantly in spite of game resolution is 800 X 600.

and works perfect above it ! (fully stretched maintaining aspect-ratio)

I've found that When Intel graphics works well sometimes, it send signal to [ 1920 X 1080 @ 60 MHz ] constantly regardless game resolution.

and working resolution is like below.

- 320 X 240

- 1152 X 864

- 1280 X 768

Does my monitor change unsupported signal to acceptable ? Well... as I told above, My monitor is very cheap and If input signal is unsupported, It shows nothing !

Finally... Is this issue settled well ?? No. there're so many classic games only support resolution like 640 X 480, 800 X 600, 1024 X 768.

Maybe.. Is there another option ? ... buy new NVIDIA graphic card and don't complain in here and live happy forever ??

It's impossible right now... I spent my money to buy barebone PC (ZOTAC ZBOX ID92) and it has no slot to add another graphics

Is it impossible that Intel graphics driver support overscale option like NVIDIA ??

I'm very very curious .

Hello HD4600, thanks for contacting us through the Intel Communities.

I would like to apologize but automatic scaling is not a feature on integrated graphics, therefore it will be necessary to set the scaling options manually.

The scaling options you get depends on the monitor you have and the resolution you select so it is something done automatically by the driver but it is not possible to have all of them available for all resolutions.

I understand what you say that Intel HD 4600 didn't support automatic scaling yet.

Well then... Is there any method to stretch image compulsory manually ?

I usually enjoy classic and Japanese games and that only provide limited resolution like 640 x 480 or 1024 x 768.

I just want to stretch game image fully (scale it) in Full-Screen mode

So If there any method like through editing registry or something else... it will be very helpful to me

In Google searching, earlier Intel graphic driver provide some option like [Switching scaling mode]

But this function does not work in latest graphic driver.

see again !

Meanwhile.. I made some program to change non-native window resolution and hide window frame. so I succeeded to run game in Fake full screen (?) anyhow...

( Java is my only workable language. So use JNA and window's USER32.DLL ( GetDisplayConfigBufferSizes, QueryDisplayConfig, SetDisplayConfig... ) .. blabla... )

But.. I still think that Intel driver can offer some scaling option to fit screen full in Native screen resolution for user who had monitor that doesn't support auto-scaling option.

Your driver EVEN NOW works well at irregular resolution like 1152 x 864.

In irregular resolution, 1152 x 864, program's graphic buffer works within it completely. but graphic card send signal on 1920 x 1080 ( it's maximum resolution of My monitor ) to monitor.

So, program's speed is not slow down And Also game graphic fit on monitor fully with correct aspect ratio (4:3) well.

This feature is very very necessary because graphic resource for game is always precious and Native mode is further more faster than Non Native mode.

So I think that.. If there some option to fix graphic signal on Native mode, It may be possible to scale automatically in Native mode.

Is it possible to review about this feature again ??

I know there are so many people to have same issue. Especially on Laptop User. ^-^

Sylvia - I work in the driver team. Our driver does support "automatic scaling" for this use case and it works just fine on DX9 on Win8.1 and it works on DX9/10/11 and OpenGL on earlier operating systems.

As stated in the other thread, it appears that there was some change Microsoft made in Win8.1 that affects DX10/11 - when they are launched in full screen exclusive mode and the user selects a non-native resolution in the game menu, the game requests a mode set and passes in modeset parameters from among the modes that the driver enumerates as available - including what scaling mode to use. Previously we would sometimes report scaling mode "Unspecified" and that came back as "full screen"; For some reason, on DX10/11 on Win8.1 we are seeing this come back as "Center Image". We are working on a fix/workaround for this issue.

The latest driver release note lists as one of the resolved issues:

"DirectX 11* based games and applications may run in 'Centered Display' mode Win 8.1".

Is this the fix for the scaling issues?

I can say for sure on my system that the latest version did not fix it for any games tested using DX11 and that there is still no Center option within Intel control panel like on 8.0 and 7

@ Kyrluckechuck, What games are you seeing this on? And is it on Windows 8.1 only? Could you also attach the DXDiag report for your system?

Thanks

Robert

I'm seeing this issue on Alien: Isolation, Sniper Elite 3, Civilization V in DX10/11 mode, Shadow of Mordor and unfortunately that's all I was able to test at the time, though those are the ones I want to actually use...

It's windows 8.1, and i'll post the DXDiag txt when I get back to my laptop later!

@ Kyrluckechuck Would you mind capturing screen shots of what you are seeing? Also, are you able to move the mouse cursor into the black border region?

Thanks

Robert

I'm not able to move my mouse into that region, and when I take a screen shot, it shows the entire image stretch fit, not squished like I see with my eyes. Attached are pics and the dxdiag.

I'm able to get Sniper Elite 3 to show like that on my laptop, but the others only show on a HDMI hookup.

Here's the DXDIAG on Pastebin, if you can't see it let me know and where to post and I'll fix it.

http://pastebin.com/dGqBAYNJ http://pastebin.com/dGqBAYNJ
