Hello,

I am trying to run No man's sky on notebook from Acer with Intel Iris 550 graphics (Windows 10). Game always hangs after "Loading shaders", and I believe it is due to the older version of OpenGL (4.4.).

I would like to install latest Intel drivers (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26941/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-46-?product=88359 these), instead of those old from notebook manufacturer, but everytime I uninstall drivers using Device Manager and restart computer to install newest drivers, Windows automatically downloads manufacturer version, thus I can't install newest drivers.

When I have tried to uninstall them with my internet connection turned off, everything went fine and I was even able to complete installation of newest drivers, but after restart, nothing has changed.

According to https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26941/eng/ReleaseNotes.pdf Release notes it should work.

Is there any way, how to force installation of newest Intel drivers with OpenGL 4.5?

Thank you for your help.

Simply install the new driver without uninstalling the old one.

If you encounter an error message about validation or sth. else install the desired driver via "have disk method" as described at:

http://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-intel-beta-graphics-drivers-surface http://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-intel-beta-graphics-drivers-surface

(ignore prolog about MS surface)

Don't restart immediately after installation, instead hit WINDOWS+CTRL+SHIFT+B to reset GPU and check the driver version.

If you now see the new version and after next restart the old one, then sth. is wrong with your rig.

Indeed OpenGL 4.5 is mandatory according to: https://www.nomanssky.com/support/ Support : No Man's Sky

I crash to desktop after Initialise white screen

This is often caused by running on Intel GPUs, which are not currently supported.

If you have an NVidia or AMD driver, please ensure you have latest drivers and your card supports OpenGL 4.5

Until NVidia and AMD update drivers NMS might accidentally select the embedded/weak/low-power GPU. If you have more than one GPU make sure set NMS.exe to High Performance in their respective GPU management programs.

In particular, getting a Title Screen with just a black background and the words "No Man's Sky" followed by a crash is normally an indication of not meeting GPU and OpenGL 4.5 requirements. Make sure drivers are up to date, and that your machine is above min spec.
