Hi there,

I'm using a 4690K. I do have a dedicated graphics card but i disabled it in the bios. I'm Using z97 board with 64bit windows and has been done no overclocking.

pretext:

Using my dedicated graphics (sapphire 7870 OC) card 144hz (video refresh rate) at 1080p is working but i do get occasional black screens on my monitor (VG248QE). To check out wether it is my card or the new monitor i was planning on using the intel graphics card to check.

problem:

Disabling the dedicated graphics card an installing the intel drivers did work fine. First i did used the Win64_153322 version. I had an option the manually set the resolution. But i had to restart so i didn't change anything. After the restart i do not find this option anywhere.

The only resultions i can choose from are with 60hz (59hz). (My Monitor VG248QE support 144hz)

I did uncheck the windows setting to only show matching video refresh rate but to no avail (only got 24 - 60hz selections there).

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

I installed the beta driver win64_1536b. No change. I reinstalled the Win64_153322 version.

All attemps above where with dual dvi connection.

I tried to connect via hdmi which gave me a few more options (but no usefull ones - more like 60i hz / 60p hz (interlaced and progessive))

The log below is made via dvi connection even so it states hdmi!

Do you have any idea how (and if possible at all) i can get the hd4600 to use a higher video refresh rate?

thanks a lot in advanced,

Daniel

update:

I did find the CustomModeApp.exe (in the driver folder) where you can change an add resolution and refresh rate by hand. Sadly i get told that the bandwith is to small. Even by reducing the resolution I'm not able to run a higher refresh rate.

If anything is unclear i will try to explain it differently as english is not my mother tongue - sry.

Using CustomModeApp.exe without success.

@ dh2, Following is the information on 144Hz support that should help you configure your system.

When using DVI:

Intel HD Graphics 4600 Does not support Dual DVI natively (however DP to Dual DVI Active Dongle might work- but not supported ) and Max Pixel Clock is supported on Single Channel DVI is 165Mhz.

So max on DVI at 1920 x 1080 is 60p Hz.

HDMI :

Intel HD Graphics 4600 Max Pixel Clock supported on HDMI is 300Mhz. So max on HDMI at 1920 x 1080 is 60p, 85p,100p, 120pHz.

Note : 1920 x 1080 (144p Hz) is not supported on HDMI as it Exceeds the max Pixel Clock supported by our Intel HW ( 300Mhz)

Driver will enable and support 300Mhz based on HDMI Panel's (HDMI Registration ID supplied by panel )

When using DispalyPort :

Intel HD Graphics 4600 Max Pixel Clock supported on DisplayPort Various based on SKU - ( Based on CD Clock of the SKU – Which is OEM setting via System bios.)

So based on what the BIOS has enabled, at 1920 x 1080, 60p, 85p,100p, 120p,144pHz are supported.

We tested based on your configuration and found the following:

With DisplayPort, working fine on DisplayPort Interface ,Which means we are able to see and apply 1920 x1080 @ 144Hz without any issue..

Above is from our CUI. Driver used : 10.18.10.3618 ( Dated 5/12/2014 )

Thanks

Robert

Thanks a lot for your very helpful and extended answer! I will try to use the displayport-connection but as I do not have the necessary cable at hand it will have to wait till it is delivered.

Again thanks a lot, this is much more support than expected.

Best regards,

Daniel

Hello toresson91;

I am affraid the converters from Display Port to DVI or HDMI will also lower the display setting. Which means you will not be able to get the full 144hz.

Regards;

Henry A.
