My new computer

CPU i5 2500 k

MB Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3

Monitor ASUS MS246H

OS Windows 7 x64

Days before, I also have the same problem that so many guys have.

I can't get the output from 2500K via the HDMI port and DVI port after install the driver,

It's fine while using the DVI or HDMI port. But when I install the driver and reboot, there is no display after the screen "Windows Starting".I go into the safe mode uninstall the driver to using the system driver, everything just go fine after reboot. And when I using the VGA port from the MB,there is no problem after install driver.I try many kinds of drivers, the HDMI and DVI port also have no display.

Now I solve the problem using the method as below:

1.prepare a vga-vga line, and connect it from MB vga port to monitor vga port

2.connect a hdmi or dvi line from mb to monitor

3.select the monitor output mode to VGA

4.power on the PC and login the system (Now it's using the vga,so there is no problem)

5.install or reinstall the driver and DO NOT restart after the job is over.

6.press WIN+P and select the duplicate mode (the second one) and press enter to confirm.

7.right click on your desktop and select "screen resolution" ,that you will see your monitor is seperated into two parts (1|2)

8.then change your monitor output mode to HDMI or DVI,Is it working now?

9.remove the vga line, and the output form hdmi or dvi is good
10.reboot the PC and everything is OK

Hope this method is useful to you, thanks.

I have a work around, after the system has booted using a VGA connection

Control panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Display Adapter -> Right Click on The Intel HD Graphics -> Disable Device

Then

Control panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Display Adapter -> Right Click on The Intel HD Graphics -> Enable Device

After that the HDMI and DVI connectors work.

So if you could script this process at Windows Boot time, Disable the HD graphics card and Enable it, the HDMI output or DVI output should enable. If Intel can figure out why this trick works and fix the driver, then I would be happy.

We now believe Intel HD Graphic output to HDMI port hardware and software are defective.

We have Intel DZ68DB http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/347255-33-intel-graphic-3000-unable-detect-hdmi-display# motherboard with build in DVI and HDMI and Displayport output ports.

CPU is i7-2600K (and assume it has internal graphic processor). OS is Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1.

BIOS set primary display to DVI, secondary display to HDMI.

Intel DZ68DB motherboard BIOS version DBZ6810H.68A.001.2011.0401.1616

Intel HD Graphic Processor 3000 Video BIOS 2111.0

Device Manager - Display http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/347255-33-intel-graphic-3000-unable-detect-hdmi-display# Driver - from Intel - 2-14-2012. Driver version: 8.15.10.2653

For weeks, this two DVI & HDMI monitors as extended displays work fine together.

One day, we booted the system without turn on the HDMI monitor.

Ever since, we are unable to make the system to detect the presence of HDMI display.

Yes, we done the device manager - device driver disable - device driver enable. Did not work.

Yes, we done the http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/347255-33-intel-graphic-3000-unable-detect-hdmi-display# control panel - display - change display setting - detect. Did not work.

Yes, we done the Intel Graphic and Media Control Panet - Multiple display. Only detect one display.

Yes, we disconnected the DVI display and boot with only HDMI display connected. Yes, the system booted and seemed running. But HDMI display is black.

Dude, you're genius. I was trying to make my hdmi work for several days with zero success, read ton of topics, eventually lost any hope. And your workaround made it work in just few seconds. Awesome!

UPD: unfortunately both Peter's and kachiko's solutions work only before reboot in my case.

Actually it is standard VGA driver works after the driver is installed and before reboot. Intel driver is invoked after reboot in the moment when login screen appears. This is why everybody get black screen after windows boot. When Intel driver gets active hdmi output fails.

Also it is interesting how Peter's workaround made HDMI work. It could give some insight for Intel about cause of problem.

Was this issue ever resolved?

I've been struggling to get a new PC up and running for a relative - its rocking a Haswell chipset with an Intel HD4600, and I'm trying to connect up a Hazro HZ27WC monitor via DVI. Sadly I'm finding that I can't get it running, either as a primary or secondary display. As described i this thread I get some activity during boot up, but then it does black. When setup as secondary, its just shown as "Digital" with the resolution and settings greyed out.

I'm stumped and its all very frustrating. If any of you guys have found a proper solution I'd love to hear about it...

I too am afflicted. HD3000 Graphics. Gigabyte H61N-USB3 I3 2150 . I once found a solution somewhere when trying to make this a Mac Mini clone. It actually involved installing rebooting etc... in a certain order . My system worked for a long time both on Mac Lion & on win 7 . Now Im on win 8 and I cant find the original post I had followed. I can get my system to sporatically detect HDMI but it just flashes a horizontal random colored line or a solid pattern (currently purple) screen. Resolution detected at oddball on 42 Vizio 420VL TV, such as 3840 x 72, 1920 x 2, xxxx x 150, etc..... I can use vga and most times dvi to hdmi simultaneously. However sometimes when problematic I unplug vga reboot and dvi to hdmi out is in extended secondary mode and useless. I like to only use hdmi or dvi as I leave the VGA available to work on customer computers. Ironic as I cant seem to fix my own!!

Help please

Not familiar with this forum's timing, idiosyncracies, etc, so this comment may show up twice.

It appears there is a known solution for this problem, embedded in the latest drivers. I won't try to post the link (that seems to blow up the forum submission sequence) but I found references to the latest drivers at Dell (where I had purchased the system with the problem) and several other locations.

Uninstall and reinstall the video driver, problem goes away.

Hello MovieMule,

I recommend you downloading and installing the latest driver version we have from our side.

I tried that Kevin, but I still can't get HDMI to work. I have DVI to HDMI cable (the third one since tech support decided the cables were bad). I have hooked up to 4 different TV's since tech support IBM and Samsung decided the TV's were at fault. Evidently none of the above technicians are aware of this known problem which I found by googling. Can you tell me if there is a solution? I can only get the Intel HD graphics card to work in VGA but want to use a newer, larger TV which only has HDMI inputs

Poor performance but works with good colour.

Install the latest driver from the Intel site (3165) and I lose the DVI signal part way through Win8 loading.

Swap to VGA and the signal is there but the colours are all messed up. Eg folders are red and cannot be corrected. (I need to check the VGA cable but I do not have a spare at the moment.)

Before I knew this was a common fault I emailed Intel support and have not yet had a reply.

Will I have to buy a new graphics card? I was hoping to avoid the expense for a while, and any recommendations for a mid range card to suit the Gigabyte would be welcome.

PS I am sorry to say that none of the workarounds worked for me.

That also happened to me, except I was using a DVI connection. But I was using vista and running a old game. The start button had tiny dots all over it and it looked like 8 or 16 bit colors. I hope this gave you a hint of what do fix.

Hi,

Someone on another forum suggested a solution - load up the Windows7 monitor driver so that DVI monitor is correctly described in Device Manager (rather than just as 'Generic Plug & Play'). This did work for me (the first 2 monitors I tried only had support for 2000/XP, but 3rd one was a more recent model). In the past, when I bought a new monitor I immediately chucked the included CD in the wastebin as I couldn't see the point!

I finally got my problem solved. My computer was still under warranty. After many hours on the phone with IBM, they took my computer in for repairs. I got it back yesterday with a new motherboard. It works perfectly now. Same Intel HD graphic card, but new motherboard. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with dual Monitor configuration.

I'm using the Gigabyte Board Q77M-D2H with the 3rd Generation i3 (3220) and the latest HD Driver (9.18.10.3165) running Win 7 x64.

When disabling and enabling the Display Adapter the second display is recognized. After reboot it is again not detected.

On my system the display which is connected via HDMI (HDMI to DVI cable) is the primary device and always active and the second display which is direcly connected via DVI is not detected after reboot.

Is this a problem of the driver or chipset, as this occurs on different HW platforms? Will there be a fix available?

I tried this method, but it does not solve the issue.

Problem reappears on next reboot.

Hi delorg,

I have tried to replicate this issue from our side but the configuration I used was working for me. Can you please post your dxdiag report here along with your graphics report?
