Monitor Resolution Issue

Hi all,

I have a Latitude 5490 laptop connected to a Dell U2718Q monitor with an HDMI cable.

The laptop is claiming that the max resolution to the monitor is 1366 x 768. I know this cannot possibly be the case.

Can any of you make suggestions of what I can try to get higher resolution on the monitor? I've updated the drivers (Dell drivers) to no avail.

Yeah I'm being given to understand that since the laptop has less than an i7 processor it can't provide screen resolution higher than the laptop screen. Can you confirm that understanding is correct?
