Stretched desktop verses Extended

I am using a Dell Optiplex 7040 with Intel HD Graphics 530 built in connected to two Vizio 43 inch M-Series ultra HD 4K displays. I found the setting to extend the desktop but the software requires stretched desktop. Is this possible on Windows 7 32 bit?

Hello Mainer:

In regard to your inquiry, on the Intel® HD Graphics 530 controller that is the one that the laptop is using, you will find 4 different options for display settings:

Single Display

Clone

Extended

Collage

Maybe collage is the option that you need to use, stretched will not appear in the graphics control panel.

Now, you mentioned that the software required stretched desktop, what is the name of that software?

Also, you always have the option to check with Microsoft® directly just to make sure if the option for stretched is available for Windows® 7 32-bit.

We have a system in our lab with Windows® 7, and I found:

Duplicate these displays

Extend these displays

Show desktop only on 1

Show desktop only on 2

No stretch option in there neither, so it seems that specific option this not available.

The software is custom written by a contractor back in 1999 used by train dispatchers to control remote locations. I have been told the stretched desktop was written out of the Windows 7 API so it had to be written into each video driver if support for that feature was to continue. AMD has Eyefinity to stretch the desktop , NVIDIA has Mosaic and Matrox has the ability too but this Dell workstation has the Intel graphics built in and I didn't think I should need to add a graphics card.

Just in case, let me give you the latest graphics driver available for Intel® HD Graphics 530, so you can un-install it and re-install it manually, but actually, if you need that feature to be available, then yes, a video card will be the thing to do to make it work properly:
