Help!

I have a Dell XPS 8700 and through Windows Update it keeps installing Intel Graphics Driver (currently 20.19.15.4549)

Issue is, when it does, my start menu won't pop up anymore, nor can I right click anywhere on the menu bar (for example right clicking Word icon to see recent word documents), nor can I click the date/time to see the calendar, etc. As you can imagine it's pretty annoying.

To fix it, I have to go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall the Intel Graphics Driver. It's pretty annoying. I've tried disabling the update on Microsoft's side but that works until you release a new version. Then I have to re-disable the update and that's also a pain. (And Windows update is getting REALLY good at updating it after I uninstall. Like every night). If this can't be resolved I'll just have to look into turning off automatic updates.

I am using 3 monitors (1 HDMI, 1 DVI, and 1 DisplayPort) so I have Multidisplay enabled in the BIOS)

Here's the report from my Intel HD Graphics Control Panel:

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

Report Date: Thursday, June 1, 2017

Report Time [hh:mm:ss]: 1:49:09 PM

Driver Version: 20.19.15.4549

Operating System: Windows* 10 Home (10.0.14393)

Default Language: English (United States)

Physical Memory: 24493 MB

Vendor ID: 8086

Device ID: 0412

Device Revision: 06

Video BIOS: 2177.0

Current Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz

Processor Speed: 3592 MHz

Processor Graphics in Use: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

Shader Version: 5.0

OpenGL* Version: 4.3

OpenCL* Version: 1.2

* Microsoft DirectX* *

Runtime Version: 12.0

Hardware-Supported Version: 11.1

* Devices connected to the Graphics Accelerator *

Active Displays: 1

* Digital Television *

Display Type: Digital

Serial Number:

DDC2 Protocol: Supported

Gamma: 2.2

Connector Type: DisplayPort

Device Type: Digital Television

Maximum Image Size

Horizontal Size: 18.9 inches

Vertical Size: 10.63 inches

Supported Modes

640 x 480 (60p Hz)

640 x 480 (75p Hz)

720 x 400 (70p Hz)

720 x 480 (60p Hz)

720 x 576 (50p Hz)

800 x 600 (60p Hz)

800 x 600 (75p Hz)

1024 x 768 (60p Hz)

1024 x 768 (75p Hz)

1152 x 864 (75p Hz)

1280 x 720 (60p Hz)

1280 x 720 (50p Hz)

1280 x 800 (60p Hz)

1280 x 1024 (60p Hz)

1280 x 1024 (75p Hz)

1400 x 1050 (60p Hz)

1440 x 900 (60p Hz)

1600 x 900 (60p Hz)

1680 x 1050 (60p Hz)

1920 x 1080 (60p Hz)

1920 x 1080 (50i Hz)

1920 x 1080 (60i Hz)

1920 x 1080 (50p Hz)

Power Management Support

Standby Mode: Supported

Suspend Mode: Supported

Active Off Mode: Supported

Raw EDID:

00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 1E 6D B8 5A 9C C7 04 00

06 19 01 03 80 30 1B 78 EA 31 35 A5 55 4E A1 26

0C 50 54 A5 4B 00 71 4F 81 80 95 00 B3 00 A9 C0

81 00 81 C0 90 40 02 3A 80 18 71 38 2D 40 58 2C

45 00 E0 0E 11 00 00 1E 00 00 00 FD 00 38 4B 1E

53 0F 00 0A 20 20 20 20 20 20 00 00 00 FC 00 4C

47 20 49 50 53 20 46 55 4C 4C 48 44 00 00 00 FF

00 0A 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 01 FB

02 03 1D F1 4A 90 04 03 01 14 12 05 1F 10 13 23

09 07 07 83 01 00 00 65 03 0C 00 10 00 02 3A 80

18 71 38 2D 40 58 2C 45 00 E0 0E 11 00 00 1E 01

1D 80 18 71 1C 16 20 58 2C 25 00 E0 0E 11 00 00

9E 01 1D 00 72 51 D0 1E 20 6E 28 55 00 E0 0E 11

00 00 1E 8C 0A D0 8A 20 E0 2D 10 10 3E 96 00 E0

0E 11 00 00 18 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 AE

* Other names and brands are the property of their respective owners

I tried that earlier and it also has an error saying "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." Which is weird because it's directly from the Dell page for my computer....

That really shouldn't happen.

Create a system restore point

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/e6bbddb0-9db4-4d88-9063-42c52c79a96e/create-a-system-restore-point https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/e6bbddb0-9db4-4d88-9063-42c52c79a96e/create-a-system-restore-point

Try to install drivers via "have disk method" as described at:

http://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-intel-beta-graphics-drivers-surface http://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-intel-beta-graphics-drivers-surface

(ignore prolog about MS surface)

For the DELL version: you can unzip it e.g. with http://www.7-zip.de/ 7ZIP
