Forcing GPU 3D/ Video flickering when hovering mouse over it on internet

Hello,

I've had this issue appear to me recently, whenever I watch videos on any streaming site online, whenever I hover my mouse over the video, it flickers, this happens only with certain browsers (e.g. chrome/opera), yet works fine with microsoft edge lets say.

So what I've noticed is, when I hover my mouse over the video it says this on task manager "GPU 0 - 3D" - https://imgur.com/HHmdA8a Imgur: The magic of the Internet if I don't hover my mouse over it, it says "GPU 0 - Video Processing" - https://imgur.com/0pDPhim Imgur: The magic of the Internet

So I've naturally thought of a solution for my own problem, which is to force GPU - 3D, however, the issue is, I don't know how to do it, so, could anyone please help me out with it ?

I'm currently running newest drivers for I7-7700HQ, Windows 10 Pro and using Opera Browser (Tried both hardware acceleration on and off, doesn't help)

Did not notice that update as it came out just recently. However, I've just installed it and it unfortunately did not fix the issue.

You might also want to try uninstalling the driver completely and then at this point there's two things you can actually do either just updated to the latest driver after you restart first or you can also download all previous versions of the driver and install one by one the first one then update it and so on testing it on each one to see if any of those resolve your issue as well. I've actually tried doing that before updating, unfortunately the issue has persisted throughout more than one version, also, a lot of them didn't work for whatever reason too, it used to show an error message saying something similar to "your computer manufacturer isn't supporting this version" or something like that.

When does this start? What I mean is can you noticed any kind of flickering or anything that you see as abnormal Maybe during boot or when you enter the BIOS? I'm only asking because I'm wondering if you could be getting interference from when you start the computer. The BIOS is basically the first application the computer knows and it's the first one that initiates the start of all the other ones including windows so again in my mind I'm thinking of two things to try the first one would be get a multi-meter and search for things that aren't grounded and they're manifesting as the flashes of your mouse pointer and the second one would be clear out your bios and then reflash pull out the CR2032 battery hit the jumpers on it and wipe that thing out and reflash with the current and then reinstall the driver again just food for thought.

This happens exclusively on browsers only when viewing videos. Just like I specified in my initial message, I noticed flickering and eventually noticed how gpu kept jumping from "video processing" when not hovering over video, to "gpu 3d" when I hover mouse over it, which made me think it was gpu related issue rather than browser for some reason.

A little bit more of an update on the newest gpu update that I've installed. Videos tend to freeze now in general, audio keeps going while video freezes and doesn't unfreeze until I f5 the page, probably will have to revert to older drivers.

Issue is not exactly the same, pc doesn't freeze entirely like that, everything works fine, just videos itself freeze, while audio works fine. Video freezes if I:

Alt+tab out of window and come back

Change tab in browser and come back to it

Fast forward video a bit

Please go ahead and try to update the driver as specified through these steps:

-Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.

-Open Device Manager: For Windows 10 Right-click Windows Start icon

-Click Yes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.

-Expand the Display adapters section.

-Right-click the Intel® graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.

-Click Browse my computer for driver software.

-Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

-Click Have Disk.

-Click Browse and select the directory where the driver files are located.

-Click OK, and finally click Next. Drivers are now being installed.

-Restart your computer.
