Hi,

I am having trouble configuring my sound for 5.1.

I have -

Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. B85M-DS3H & Onkyo ht r380 on windows 7

When I click on sounds in control panel to configure the speakers I get this. When I clock test, the left sound comes out my hannspree tv and the right sound comes out my right onkyo speaker. When I click any other option only sound comes out the right onkyo speaker. How do I get windows to recognize either 3.1 or 5.1 (3.1 is my preferred option)

ello meechar,

Please note that both audio drivers you have at this point do not control the 3.1, 5.1 or higher audio output so it is necessary to install the onboard audio driver to have this feature working as expected.

This will depend on the motherboard you have, it may be Realtek or Soundmax (there may be others) but it is necessary to get this driver from the computer manufacturer.

Kevin M
