Debian does not do 4K on Intel 620

In short:

Got a 4K screen working on Windows,

on a Dell 13-5378 (Inspiron 13 5000 i5).

So I can see 3840 pixels × 2160 (HDMI, 30Hz).

Now same hardware, with Debian stretch (testing)

... I only get a max resolution of 2048 x 1152

The experts in the Debian forum have already tried to help me, but so far, no success.

Any idea what to do?

Just to let you know, Intel tested their products using Windows as an operating system, so there is no documentation regarding how Debian works, let me apologize for that. yes, sure.

But I cannot believe that in the Intel mega-corporation that there is not a single Linux expert.

akrueger: You are welcome. Just to let you know, basically what I did was to send your suggestion about having a Linux team to that department so they can be aware of your feedback. In that regard they are the ones that will consider that suggestion to implement it or not.

I was able to upgrade the kernel to 4.12
