Hardware: Dell Inspiron 17R

OS: Windows 8.1 x64

-connecting to-

LG 32LS3400

Issue:

Couple weeks back (as of 1 November 2014) I was in class doing a render with Cinema 4D, a 3D animation software. The render itself was extremely demanding of PC resources and froze. I tried to abort the render, and got a window I do not recall except I did briefly see "Display." Same night I got home I hooked up my laptop to the LG TV and noticed glitches on the TV, flashing, all until I dropped the refresh rate from 60 hz to 30 hz. I had tried connecting to other TV's and had no issue. As for the LG, It still had minor glitches but the screen stayed on and I continued to figure out what went wrong. Several days ago, I read in a post to delete the display driver and reinstall it.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I did just that.

NOW, I get no picture on either my LG or other TV's. Or any monitor.

My laptop does recognize the fact there is a TV. Using Debut Video Capture, the preview shows my main desktop plus the extended desktop.

So now I've basically ran out of ideas, and the last thing I want to do is completely nuke my laptop and rebuild it for an extended display.

Anyone know a good fix?

Thanks!

-Alex

Alex, I highly suggest you to use a different HDMI cable.

Make sure is a high quality HDMI 1.4a cable, this one for example http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-HDMI-Cable-Supports/dp/B003L1ZYYM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415289407&sr=8-1&keywords=hdmi+cable http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-HDMI-Cable-Supports/dp/B003L1ZYYM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415289407&sr=8-1…

Alex, would you please try the following:

Remove or uninstall all Intel Graphics drivers

Reboot your system

Try to do a dual display. (This may or may not work, it is going to depends on your system) I just want to know if this behavior is being cause by the driver or something else.

You can also try to install our previous Graphics driver and try to connect the 2nd display https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24392 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24392

Or try the latest version available on our site https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24329&lang=eng&ProdId=3712 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24329&lang=eng&ProdId=3712

Since our drivers are generic drivers you may need to force the installation by performing manual procedure

See here for instructions: http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm Graphics Drivers — Computer manufacturer graphics driver detected

After disabling Wifi, I uninstalled the graphics driver, which got replaced by the basic graphics driver. I rebooted, and tried to connect my second screen, which didn't work. I enabled my wifi and I manually installed the graphics driver you had provided. At first I got a notification saying that the driver was already installed, and then my Intel HD Graphics 4000 came back. Although there is minor difference. My TV, instead of saying "No Signal" when you first switch to the HDMI port, now displays "Connecting." But still shows no picture and shoots around the "No Signal" box.

Alex, I suggest you contacting Dell since we already perform all recommended troubleshooting.

The last think you could do is use another HDMI cable, there is a high possibility that the cable you are using is not working as expected.

Alex, please get in touch with Dell, this does not seems to be a driver issue since you already tried some of them.

This could be a problem with the HDMI port on your laptop.
