HD3000 HDTV problem

Hello! I hooked up my Laptop to my Insignia TV. However every time I switch to my Ps3 (HDMI2) and back to PC(HDMI1) the screen resets. The screen goes grey and fuzzy (Grey noise?) occasionally as well. The brightness defaults and I have to change it in the settings on the TV. Now I would've thought it's a problem with the TV however I saw that the TV's brightness and other settings stay the same when the brightness for example goes up. I also exchanged it for a new one. Tried four different HDMI cables as well. I also only get Maintain display scaling on 1360x768 and 1980x1080. I get the best quality on 1360x768 with Maintain display scaling. I tried other resolutions and scaling types and still got the same problem and the screen didn't look right . Thanks !

Current setting: -maintain display scaling at 1360x768 (which is recommended),32Bit,59HZ refresh rate.

my PC:Asus K53SV laptop second generation I5 procesor with intel HD3000.

-Graphic card driver version 9.17.10.3062

-Windows 7 Service pack 1

TV: 720P 28" Insignia TV

From what I can see in that report 1680 by 1050 (60 Hz) is the highest video resolution native supported by the monitoring you are using. In such case, the issue might be related to using unsupported Video Modes in that external display

I changed it to 1680x1050 (60HZ) however I still encountered the same problem. Letters and other items we're way too small as well. 1360x768 is recommended on the resolution screen. What could be the problem? I really don't want to buy a new TV just because of my graphic card. Thanks for your help by the way

In fact checking the specifications of the TV the maximum resolution that should be used is 1366 x 768, using any video resolution higher than that you result on loosing video quality and could damage the TV. I suggest you try a truly 1080p display to test.

Im using 1360*768 anyway. I think I may have found the solution though but it's a guess. Could it be power management support? I read-

Display Power Management Support:

Standby Mode: Not Supported

Suspend Mode: Not Supported

Active Off Mode: Not Supported

Maybe I need to find a way to support them? Maybe that's why the settings default and I get grey screen?

These settings depend from what the EDID of the monitor claim that the monitor is able to support. If these settings are marked as not supported possibly they are not, or the EDID from the display does not provide this information. That could happen if you are using an old display or a display with incorrect EDID

Try using a display that clearly states that supports 1080 in order to troubleshoot this issue.
