topic Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Critical Thermal Events and Hibernation in Graphics

I recently downloaded and successfully installed the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework driver (version 8.3.10209.6897, A12, updated 18 March 2020) from Dell's support website. Ever since then my laptop has been forcefully hibernating when the driver decides that it is too hot (supposedly over 200 F / 93 C). This is after moderate strain on the CPU, GPU, and/or RAM of the laptop. In the past, I have been able to succesfully run high-strain programs (e.g. large games) that produce significantly more heat than my current programs produce.

I am running Windows 10 Home (10.0.18362) on an Inspiron 13-7353 with an Intel Core i7-6500 CPU and an Intel HD Graphics 520 GPU. Intel support has no option to select DPTF drivers for my device, and I'm not sure which other category I should select to talk with someone about the issue. I have checked the Developers Zone on this issue with no luck. I'll be trying Dell once their operating hours start again.

I'd just like to know if anyone is having issue with this DPTF update or whether there is a fix. Thanks.

Looks like someone at DELL is sleeping.

Driver version 8.3.10209.6897 has actually been compiled in August 2018

You can either re-install previous driver via device manager,

or restore from a system restore point for the previous driver,

or you can try the current driver version 8.7.10200.12510

Thanks for that link. I've been relying on Dell and Intel for the driver versions as I couldn't find an online catalog like that.

I found a good system restore point and found that the version I originally used was 8.2.10900.330 from 2016. I originally installed the "newer" (8.3) version at the suggestion of Dell but I'm leaving it alone for a while, and maybe I'll try the newest one (8.7) later.

Thanks again.

Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework 8.3.10209.6897
For some reason my laptop keeps doing an automatic shutdown because of the above software
It started at some point after doing some software upgrades
I uninstalled and downgraded to Version 8.1.10605.221
This stopped Dell Precision 7510 from shutting down improperly
