Hello,

This report is actually about a possible bug of the support assistant, not the graphics driver per se:

Right after the "Windows 10-x64 2018 October Update", it seems that the driver for my "Intel HD Graphics 620" was automatically downgraded to version "23.20.16.4901", although I am 100% sure that the latest version ("25.20.100.6373") was installed on my PC a couple of days before the Windows update.

It was obvious, because the screen was flickering while scrolling or when dragging windows around the screen and the overall experience was not smooth enough (like before).

So I started the "Intel Driver & Support Assistant" to check for new drivers, I saw the currently installed old version and also the message that there is NO update available for my PC, although the latest driver version is "25.20.100.6373".

In Device Manager it said "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

Windows Update could not find any updates.

So I went ahead and manually downloaded & installed the latest driver available. Everything is smooth again. Yey!

-----------------------

System information:

Operating System: Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.17763.0
Process Type: 64-Bit

SMBIOS Version: 3.0
BIOS Vendor: Insyde Corp.
BIOS Version: V1.47

System Manufacturer: Acer
System Name: Aspire E5-575G
System Version: V1.47

Mainboard Manufacturer: Acer
Mainboard Name: Ironman_SK
Mainboard Version: V1.47

Processor Manufacturer: Intel(R) Corporation
Processor Version: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz
Processor Core Count: 2
Processor Core Enabled: 2
Processor Thread Count: 4
Processor External Clock: 100 Mhz

Memory Device [0] Manufacturer: Kingston
Memory Device [0] Speed: 2133 MHz

Processor Vendor: Intel
Processor Brand: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz
Family: 0x6
Model: 0x8E
Stepping: 0x9

GPU in question
Intel HD Graphics 620

Nvidia GPU
Name: NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
Index: 0
Driver Version: 416.16
Driver Branch: r416_10-4

SSDSamsung
Drive name: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB
Firmware version: RVT02B6Q

SSDSandforce
Drive name: HFS256G39TND-N210A
Firmware version: 30001P10

-----------------------

Thanks for looking into this.

Zoli
