Hi,

I am considering buying academic licenses for development in my lab. After looking at the software requirements it was not clear if I needed both Microsoft VC++ compiler and Intel's C++ compiler.

We have Microsoft tools readily available, so is there also a need for Intel's C++?

Thanks,

Hi Gerardo,

Using of Intel C/C++ Compiler can give you additional performance in your software, but it is not requiredto be able to useIntel Integrated Performance Primitives (IPP). So, you will be able to use IPP in your software with only Microsoft* C/C++ Compiler.

Regards,

Vladimir,

Thanks for your answer. I have a team doing for their senior project a video phone. They are just starting so i have found valuable information about platforms that other people are using.

My interest is in using the video and audio codec promitives on an embedded system, so at some point we will migrate to an embedded platform. Do you have a document that describes the requirements for an embedded system (using Intels cores of course) as far as SW development tools, recommeded RTOS, etc.

I have read some information in the forum but it is rather dispersed. Also, are there any primitives to, for instance, control a camera. Or is this discussed in some fashion in the IPP book?

Best Regards,
