      <title>VFP and FPA incompatibilities</title>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My name is Chih-Wei Chang.&lt;BR /&gt;We are using IXP-425 in our products. Because of the bugs of publicly available arm tool-chain, we built a new set of arm tool-chain to develop our system. Recently we need to utilize IPP to integrate 3rd-party applications into our product. We have purchased IPP in several days ago.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When we tried to compile and link the 3rd party application with IPP, we found the error messages look like:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/arm-linux/3.3.2/../../../../arm-linux/bin/ld: ERROR: /opt/intel/ipp/5.0/ixp/lib/be/libippcore.a(pcpudefxsc.o) uses FPA instructions, whereas mp3decexample does not&lt;BR /&gt;File in wrong format: failed to merge target specific data of file /opt/intel/ipp/5.0/ixp/lib/be/libippcore.a(pcpudefxsc.o)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;We guess that it is caused by the incompatibility of using VFP and FPA. Because we have other binary files using VFP, it is not likely to recompile them with new FPA toolchain&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Since we have the VFP toolchain, I do not know if it is possible to send Intel our VFP toolchain, so that Intel can recompile IPP for us.&lt;BR /&gt;We have asked the Intel domestic division in Taiwan and they suggest us to&lt;BR /&gt;fire a support request here first,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks for your help in advance.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Ray (Chih-Wei Chang)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;PS: My E-mail address is cwchang@setabox.com.tw</description>

      <description>Dear Vladimir:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What we try to do is to use the MP3 decoder.&lt;BR /&gt;Actually we are porting Macromedia Flash 6.&lt;BR /&gt;They are using IPP for the audio decoding.&lt;BR /&gt;The whole porting task has been done, except this part. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Best regards,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Ray (Chih-Wei Chang)</description>
