I have a memory buffer that is even in width of pixels.
The buffer is formatted as a stream of bytes. RGBRGBRGB
I simply want to convert that buffer to RGBARGBA.

IPP has special function for this purpose:

IPPAPI( IppStatus, ippiCopy_8u_C3AC4R,
( const Ipp8u* pSrc, int srcStep,
Ipp8u* pDst, int dstStep, IppiSize roiSize ))
