480GB 900p maxes at around 16w, with intel specification 12v thats around 1.333Amps. if I do 5v then to get 16w will need 3.2Amps.. i believe SATA power comes with 4.5amps in total. i plan to get a sata to SAS power adapter.

taking a look at samsung 950 pro 1TB it can use upwards 9w during high queue depth workloads and it runs on a 3.3voltage. would 900p run if its supplied with 5v? if so will there be issue? please answer as I really want to know before I buy one.

- using it in a laptop, it has enough space by taking out ODD drive, dont have motherboard model number as they dont give that out.

- sata power to SAS is generalizing it. but using this adapter https://www.ebay.com/itm/252813800114 NGFF M.2 to U.2 SFF-8639 Adapter Cable 15cm, R47SF | eBay the white 4 pin connector i can have a sata to 4 pin power cable. but SATA in laptop is 5v.

- the 2.5" of course, AIC wont work fit in laptop.

will the 900p work with 5v, even if there are small performance penalty, it is very worth it over samsung 960 pro. if I must get 280GB 2.5" version due to power issue then i will do that but i'd prefer 480GB 900p and hope it will boot off 5v.

back to my previous concern, 480GB 900p maxes at around 16w, with intel specification 12v thats around 1.333Amps. if I do 5v then to get 16w will need 3.2Amps.. i believe SATA power comes with 4.5amps in total. if it is 4.5amps should not be a problem or im guessing thats not how it works?

Thanks for the reply.

We would like to inform you that this SSD only works with 12V. We can not assure if the SSD will work with less power.

We recommend you to contact the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html laptop https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html manufacturer in order to confirm if your system supports NVMe* SSDs because the Samsung* Evo 850 Pro is SATA.

We would like to inform you that in the 2.5" form factor there is only one capacity available that is 280GB. Also, the box includes a similar cable as the one you provided before. You can check the information https://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/en/support/articles/000025739/memory-and-storage/enthusiast-ssds.html here. This is the ordering code for the SSD with the cable SSDPE21D280GASM.

Regards,

Junior M.
