I have the following link problem under visual studio 2005

error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __iob referenced in function _METIS_errexit

any help appreciated

Can you try lastest 8.1 MKL version?

And for what architecture (ia32, em64t, ipf) you are using MKL libraries?
