Pardiso Silent Failure in Reordering

I have been able to compile, link and run the pardiso_sym.c and pardiso_unsym.c examples that comes with the oneAPI MKL using MS VC++. However, when I run the examples, both fail silently in the Reordering and Symbolic Factorization phase. Any ideas on how to debug this?

This was because the environment variables were not set in the shell. Running the setvars.bat script solved this.
