Problem solved; I reset windows from the troubleshoot menu. The SATA controller is set to AHCI and the old drive works without Optane.

Context: I replaced my old hdd+optane with a fresh win10 installation ssd. I planned to get rid of the optane memory and use the hdd as storage. My PC is a Lenovo desktop.

Once I had my Windows running on the ssd, I disabled the Optane memory in Intel Rapid Storage app and also replaced the Intel SATA RAID controller driver with Microsoft storage spaces controller (which was a mistake). Now Windows doesn't boot even if the Optane and hdd aren't plugged in. Changing the SATA controller in BIOS from RAID to AHCI does nothing. How do I get Windows running again?
