topic Re: Memory RAM in Intel® Optane™ Memory

Hello @Nijat ,

Thank you for your patience while our internal team reviewed the details of your case. I appreciate you sharing the context from your conversation with ASUS regarding the IMC microcode.

To address that specific point and the overall behavior: the evidence provided confirms that the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) on your Intel Core Ultra processor is physically healthy and functioning properly. Because your system successfully completes POST and operates correctly with the Corsair DDR5-5600 kit, it proves that the processor's memory controller, the motherboard socket, and the DIMM slots are all fully capable of communicating and training memory. If the processor had a hardware defect, it would fail to complete POST regardless of which memory kit you installed.

Why does the TeamGroup kit fail while the Corsair kit works?

While Intel provides the baseline microcode for the memory controller, when a new platform like the Z890 is launched, the motherboard's BIOS must be programmed by the manufacturer with specific algorithms to read the SPD profiles and train the exact memory chips (ICs) inside different RAM kits.

Often, early BIOS revisions are very stable with base JEDEC speeds (like the 5600 MT/s Corsair kit), but struggle to negotiate the tighter sub-timings or voltage curves of specific XMP kits (like your 6000 MT/s TeamGroup module) even if that TeamGroup module works fine on older, more mature motherboards.

ASUS has already escalated this to their engineering team, which puts you in exactly the right hands. It is entirely up to the motherboard manufacturer to release a BIOS update that adds the specific microcode tuning required for your TeamGroup module to complete memory training on their board.

From an Intel perspective, there is no hardware defect with your processor. Moving forward, we recommend waiting for ASUS engineering to provide a BIOS patch, or continuing to use the compatible Corsair memory.

Best regards,

Hello Intel Support,

I am contacting you regarding a possible memory compatibility issue involving an Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus processor.

My system configuration is:

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus

Motherboard: ASUS Z890 AYW GAMING WIFI W

BIOS Version: 3020

Memory Kit: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-6000 CL38
Part Number: FF3D516G6000HC38ADC01

The system fails to complete POST when the TeamGroup memory is installed.

The following troubleshooting has already been completed:

CMOS has been cleared.

BIOS defaults have been loaded.

Only one memory module was tested in the recommended A2 slot.

Memory training was allowed to run for more than 10 minutes.

BIOS was updated to the latest available version.

Both memory modules were tested individually.

The results are:

The TeamGroup memory kit works correctly in another Intel-based system.

My motherboard and processor work correctly with another DDR5 memory kit (Corsair CMK5X32G2B56C40A2-CN DDR5-5600).

With the TeamGroup memory installed, the CPU and DRAM Q-LEDs cycle during memory training. Eventually all LEDs turn off, but the system never completes POST and no display output is produced.

I have also been in contact with ASUS technical support. After reviewing all test results, ASUS stated that the behavior may indicate a compatibility issue involving the memory SPD/XMP configuration, memory IC revision, BIOS memory training, or the Intel integrated memory controller (IMC) microcode. ASUS has forwarded my case to their engineering team and informed me that Intel may need to be involved if necessary.

Since the memory kit works correctly in another Intel-based system, and the motherboard works correctly with another DDR5 memory kit, I would appreciate it if you could investigate whether this issue could be related to the Intel memory controller or microcode compatibility with this specific memory module.

Please let me know if you require any additional information, logs, BIOS screenshots, or test results.

Thank you for your time and assistance.
