Hi,

in NVDIMM, are there are data to show what kind of DIMM it is?

like DIMM SKU. we can know DIMM mode by this SKU.(memory mode or App-direct mode)

and if there is this information, does BIOS and BMC access it?

we need this information to show what kind of DIMM we are running.

I will be more than happy to assist you with your questions.

Firstly, physically on the Product Label Decoder, you will see some details about the DCPM Module such as the Module Capacity.

However, if you would like to see more information of the memory module such as the type of DIMM Capacity, Operational Modes and more information; we have some commands depending of the Operating System you have install on your Server; for instance:

-Linux (Power Shell, as well) Ram & Storage system Commands:

# ipmctl show -topology (Platform memory module location topology)

# ipmctl show -dimm (Module type info)

# ipmctl show -firmware (Firmware version)

# ipmctl show -memoryresources (Current mode settings)

# ipmctl show -region (Find DIMMs according to each PM region)

# ipmctl show -sensor (Sensor health info)

# ipmctl show -error (Thermal|Media) -dimm (Error info)

# ipmctl show -d BootStatus –dim (Boot status register (BSR) info)

# ipmctl dump -destination <hostname_debugdump_log_yyyymmdd> debug -dimm <0x0001> (Dump firmware debug Log)

# ipmctl dump -destination <hostname_supportdump_log_yyyymmdd> support (Dump Support Data (OS runtime environment only)

On the other hand, you have the possibility to check the BIOS Memory Information in order to see the DIMM information and Memory Settings.

according to what you said, BIOS has DIMM SKU information, and I can get this information from BIOS, correct?

I need this SKU to know this DIMM is in Memory mode or App-direct mode.

Hi DHuan29,

That is correct, you can verify the Operational Modes on the BIOS Settings.

It is usually located on the BIOS/Memory Settings, however, it will depend on the Server Board.

Could you please so kind and provide to me the Server Board Brand Name and Model?
