Hi Mosh_Pit,

Let me help you with this.

The processor in mentioned works at 77W but there is another version (low power consumption) model Intel® Core i5-3550S that runs with 65W.

You can check this information at the following link:

http://ark.intel.com/compare/65518,65516 http://ark.intel.com/compare/65518,65516

Based on the information Gigabyte provides about processor compatibility, it seems your motherboard should run this processor. Here you have the processor compatibility list from the Computer Manufacture:

http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4153 http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4153

In the case the system is not working fine I would recommend you checking all connections on the motherboard and if possible testing a different processor. By doing this we can discard issues either the processor or the motherboard.

Hi,

My question is this, does the wattage on these processors only come in at 77w? I don't see any others here on this site, but I have one that the box it came in claims it's at 95 watts and when I put it in my Gigabyte Z77x-UD3H MOBO the fans spin but the BIOS never runs. Is the processor not compatible if it's 95 watts? Could the processor be dead or the BIOS corrupted? Please help.Gigabyte site says these boards are compatible with 77w processor. Wondering if my Intel box is mis labeled.

Thanks, Mike

clearly states 95w. Is that a typo on the sticker? I want to be sure that it's compatible before assuming anything. If all the fans come on and the MOBO lights work, could there still be a PSU issue?

Just noticed something on the MOBO site for this board. It says some Intel i5 processors require a video card. Do I need the Video Card installed before running BIOS for 1st time? I had the monitor connected to the MOBO itself, not the graphics card.

Thanks,Mike

Hi Mosh_Pit,

This may have been a typo but I can confirm this is definitely a 77W product.

In regards the graphics question, this processor comes with onboard graphics so there is no need for you to get a video card since the motherboard will use the onboard resources.
