topic HD 4000 Vs P4000, Is There A Difference? in Mobile and Desktop Processors

latest generation i chips are described as having hd400 graphics while xeon chips are described as having P4000 graphics - are these identical graphics with different designations or id there a difference? also, i'm aware that some i chips with k designations can be overclocked, but can the graphics portion of the chip (HD 4000) be overclocked as well? if so is this a separate procedure, i.e. overclocking the processor and overclocking the graphics side of the chip or when the chip is overclocked the graphics portion is automatically overclocked as well? thanks in advance!

Can you provide an example of a processor having a P4000 graphics controller, I cannot find any at:

http://ark.intel.com/ http://ark.intel.com/

Also, over-clocking the processor will not over-clock the graphics controller, since those are 2 different controllers.

the xeon e3 series for one:

http://ark.intel.com/products/series/53495 Intel&# 174; Xeon&# 174; processor E3-1200 Product Family

so are these igp graphics (p4000) identical to the hd 4000 igp graphics found on the newer generation i chips? btw thanks for the info re overclocking the processor and graphics is not the same process. but the graphics on the k chips can be overclocked?

Ok, there is no difference, it is the same controller.

P4000 = indicated server processor.

HD 4000 = indicated desktop processor.

But the features are the same on both processor families.
