Hello,

We have a server using the SLACB Quad core, we can upgrade to a second CPU in this server and have found an inexpensive SLAEM E5310. However, I am wondering if the 2 processors can exist side by side. Accoring to specs the two CPU's are identical.

sSpec

Model

Internal Clock

External Clock

L2 Cache

TDP

Max.

Hello Robert,

The main difference will be the stepping version. When a new batch processors are launched, most of the time they come in a newer stepping revision. Same applies for a board as well.

http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=28030 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=28030

Sometimes, the newer steppings may have some minor changes. Your main concern is to make sure whether all the steppings have been validated on the board and if the board allow you to use different steppings. This information should be available in the board Technical Product Specification if it is an intel server board.

All the best,

Kind Regards,

Aryan.
