If the microcode revision in the BIOS is not 1A or above, you will not have AES on i7-2630QM. In order to get it to work, an updated BIOS with an updated microcode AND MSR 0x13c set to 1 have to present. For more info and a guide/walkthrough, see

http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/582628-aes-ni-support-truecrypt-sandy-bridge-problem.html http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/582628-aes-ni-support-truecrypt-sandy-bridge-problem.html

I have a following problem: TrueCrypt does not show hardwarce acceleration for the processor mentioned in the topic.

Clearly, on the processor specification page there is "Yes" next to the "AES New Instructions".

To be sure that it's not a program error I checked instructions set in the CPU-Z as well. However no AES found.

How can I turn this instruction set on (is it possible at all)?

My notebook is: Asus G53SW-SZ141V.

Should I contact Asus about this case? Can manufacturer disable instructions on the processor?

I am pretty upset, paying lots of money for something that lack options which should be available.

I would recommend running the Intel® Processor Identification Utility to determine if the processor is being properly recognized.

If that is the case, then please contact the laptop manufacturer since they can disable processor features trough the BIOS of the laptop.
