Thanks for your quick reply. I have been to ark.intel.com but it is not what I need. I am looking for the complete features/benefits division that Intel is using to segment the X-series, W-series, L-Series, & E-series. The ARK is useful for the numbers differences. I am interested in Intel's strategy for each series.

I am looking for a url to something that can guide the system builder when selecting a CPU when multiple options are available. Intel site would be preferred but any authorative site is good.

Go to Intel's support site search Xeons and you will find about 30 different Xeons with all the specs and a feathure that lets you compare.

If you are building a new sys. and are thinking of I-core 7 or Xeon ?? Go with the Xeons ,Yes they are more $$$ but they will out perform the I-core 7s Hands down .

Intel's strategy is to replace all of these with a SandyBridge CPU.

Intel's strategy is to maintain Moore's Law and release new CPU about every 2 years... Nothing new there.

ARK will give you a run down on the specific processors http://ark.intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?codeName=33174 http://ark.intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?codeName=33174

I am not sure I have ever seen a break down on the X W L E prefix. I have to do some digging on this one.

The L are the lower wattage is about the only one I recall of the top of my head.

The Processor Spec update has a good identification section http://www.intel.com/Assets/en_US/PDF/specupdate/323372.pdf http://www.intel.com/Assets/en_US/PDF/specupdate/323372.pdf'
