CPU overclocking causing freeze?

I have an ASUS ultrabook UX21E. it has core core i7 2677m processor max speed upto 1.8ghz.

Motherboard of ASUSTec computer inc with latest bios available for it.

I am facing a very strange problem. Sometimes when I unplug my laptop from AC to DC it freezes and sometimes it doesn't.

After going through several tests I figured out that on AC my processor is running at a maximum of 2.7 or 2.8ghz which is way beyond 1.8ghz and whenever I unplug if my processor is over 1.8 it freezes.

I have never overclocked my CPU.

I have already tried to reset the BIOS settings to default.

Please help me to resolve this issue.

Hello malhotrareeshi;

ASUS has a Turbo configuration on the BIOS and or the CPU-Z utilities. Which will cause the CPU to go to its MAX clock. I will recommend better to get in contact with ASUS at https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/ASUS_ZENBOOK_UX21E/HelpDesk/ https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/ASUS_ZENBOOK_UX21E/HelpDesk/ to provide you better support on how to configure or lower down the turbo options.
