Hi Allan --

Thanks for the response and your interest in my problem. This is a Velocity Micro computer with an ASUS motherboard. I got the following information from the flash menu of the BIOS:

P9X79 LE version: 4502 October 15, 2013. I hope this is what you are seeking.

The machine invoice says the MB is an Asus X79 mobo + Intel i7-4820K (4 core/3.7GHz with HT) + 8GB DDR1866 RAM.

FYI, I also ran a "powercfg -requests" and came up with the following:

C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -requests

DISPLAY:

None.

SYSTEM:

[SERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe (CryptSvc)

AWAYMODE:

None.

I have also had "powercfg -requests" results for Norton Security Suite, but could not reproduce it to include in this reply.

Best regards.

My computer wakes by itself. Powercfg, see below, indicates it's the Intel processor. I do have the PCIe NIC set to WOL, but I want the machine to wake only when I call it. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks so much.

C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -lastwake

Wake History Count - 1

Wake History [0]

  Wake Source Count - 1

  Wake Source [0]

    Type: Device

    Instance Path: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0E08&SUBSYS_84EF1043&REV_04\3&11583659&1&18

    Friendly Name:

    Description: Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5 v2/Core i7 PCI Express Root Port 3a - 0E08

    Manufacturer: Intel

Thanks for joining the processor community.

I would like to know more about your system configuration.

Please provide the model number of the motherboard or computer model. If this is an Intel motherboard, please see below for information about how to identify an Intel product.

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-012681.htm http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-012681.htm

Thanks

Thanks for the information.

Please bear in mind this type of issues are not related to the processor since sleep mode features is part of the operating system and the board BIOS.

I recommend updating your computer BIOS, please see the link below and download latest BIOS revision for your motherboard:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P9X79_LE/HelpDesk_Download/ http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P9X79_LE/HelpDesk_Download/

Also, contact Asus support for more information about this matter:

http://www.asus.com/support/CallUs http://www.asus.com/support/CallUs

Allan.

Allan --

Thanks for the reference and for clarifying. I was reacting to the message from the OS, which apparently was misleading, and will focus on something other than the processor. I'll post back here with the results.

Thanks,

Bob
