you will need to overclock... i haven't looked into how the i3s are poverclocking, do a google and see..

I am installing an I3 540 on an Asrock H55DE3 Motherboard. This board supports memory speeds up to DDR3 2600 overclocked and 1600 at normal clocking. The specs that I read recommend DDR3 1300 memory for the I3 540. Will the I3 handle 1600 speed memory without any issues?

Thank you for help in advance.

Regards!

The Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 Processor 540 supports only DDR3 at 1066/1333MHz.

Also make sure that your memory requires less rthan 1.6v as the memory controlelr on your processor is made for memory from 1.5v to 1.6v. 1.65v may burn your processor.

PV.

Thanks for the input. I have seen some memory that says that it is just designed for I5 and I7 processors. I guess that is why.

I will look for 1333 MHz, 1.5 v. If you have any recommendations, please send them on.

Thanks, again.

Yes, memory manufacturers like to say that the memory is designed for the ci7 but they don't mention that using the memory at 1.65v will make the processor run out of specifications and will damage the unit.

I know that several memory manufacturers have 1333Mhz at 1.5v, like Kingston* value ram, Corsair* value select and many others. Some online stores will allow you to even choose the memory by their voltage.

PV.
