You have a choice to make. You can go through the RMA process to get a replacement fan from Intel or you can purchase a replacement fan and get it a whole lot sooner. I found the fan on Amazon for less that US$10: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-E97379-001-Connector-Aluminum-Heatsink/dp/B004XJNC0O Amazon.com: Intel E97379-001 Core i3/i5/i7 Socket 1150/1155/1156 4-Pin Connector CPU Cooler With Aluminum Heatsink and 3…

If you want to go the Intel RMA route, you will need to contact Intel Customer Support directly.

Hello Intel support team;

Recently I purcased a boxed Intel Pentium G4400 CPU (Skylake) which is equipped with an NIDEC E97379-001 fan.

This fan gives no RPM-Signal and is not detected in BIOS - also it runs slow and makes some whining noise.

I tested it on several chassis fan headers on the board with no rpm-signal.

The fan twitches for a while and than stars running slow an noisy like a vacuum cleaner.

A mounted chassis fan connected to the cpu fan header on the board gives a rpm signal, is detected and runs normal.

So the headers on the mainboard seem to be ok - the issue is up to the NIDEC fan.

The mainboard (MSI H110M-ProVH) was updated to the latest BIOS (V2.F 17/12/05), the cables of the fan are not damaged.

Can you help me with this issue?

Regards

Thank you for your response. I've placed a RMA request and hope Intel will send me a new fan.

I noticed that there was another posting here where someone claimed about problems with this fan on some mainboards. /thread/103077 https://communities.intel.com/thread/103077
