Hello I have an i7-3970X clocked to 4.0 GHz (multiplier x40) shows correctly in PID as CPU Speed 4.0 GHz but shows CPU Speed 5.6 GHz in System Identification Utility Reference Number: 0394 9375. Note I get a similar differential issue with 3DMark Time Spy which shows a "Reported stock core clock" of 5.6 GHz while reporting a "Maximum turbo core clock" of 4.0 GHz. Note MB is at 100 MHz.

I'd like understand why the 5.6 GHz number is being generated. Please advise, thanks

Hello i73970XGuy,

My apologies for the inconvenience.

It seems like the Intel® System Identification Utility is having misreading this since the Processor Base Frequency and Max Turbo Frequency are 3.50 GHz and 4.00 GHz correspondingly. I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the utility and check one more time.

Regards,

Amy C.
