Please bear in mind that the instructions set of this Intel® Xeon® Processor X5355 is 64-bit so it should support it; see the specifications in the link below.

But there is an important detail, the OS compatibility depends on the circuit board's chipset (motherboard or server board), and the drivers that you will need are developed for it specific board model.

I am using an older HP XW8400 Workstation. I cannot see the board model # but it has at present 2 XEON 5150 2.66GHz 2667 Mhz, 2 core Logical Processors, and Windows 10 works great. I am trying to increase the power for music production.

Hi Helen,

I am told that quad core processors supply more processing power. If there is a better alternative that will work for me, I am always interested. The 5150 processors are dual core, the 5355 are quad core I am led to believe, and HP only posts the 2 different processors at 2.66GHz.

With these processors, the OS compatibility depends on the circuit board's chipset (motherboard or server board), and the drivers that you will need are developed for it specific board model developer. If your Motherboard supports Windows® 10, it shouldn't be a problem.

Hellen,

I put the 5355 processors into my HP XW8400 workstation and they worked fine with Windows 10. The 5150 processors that were in that workstation worked as well
