Trying to decide between these two HP computers.

In this corner...

HP Workstation xw8200

3.80 GHz Intel Xeon (2 Installed) Processor with

- 16 kb Primary Memory Cache

- 2048 kb Secondary Memory Cache

- 64-bit ready

- Not Hyper-threaded

On an HP 08B4h Motherboard with

- 800 MHz Bus Clock

Currently with Windows XP (32-bit) and 6GB of RAM (but will likely be updated to Windows 7 (64-bit) in the future.

And in this corner...

HP Compaq 8100 Elite CMT PC

3.20 GHz Intel Core i5 650 with

- 64 kb Primary Memory Cache

- 256 kb Secondary Memory Cache

- 4096 kb Tertiary Memory Cache

- 64-bit ready

- Multi-core (2 Total)

- Hyper-Threaded (4 total)

On an HP 304Bh Motherboard with

- 133 MHz Bus Clock

Currently with Windows 7 (64-bit) and 4GB of RAM

I have this choice for my work computer in which I do some CAD design work and Spreadsheets galore! Please help me decide. Thank you,

Please keep in mind the system performance is not only dependent on the processor speed, but dependent on its specifications and entire hardware and software configuration.

In regards to the Intel® Xeon Processor is use, it is an OEM/tray only unit, therefore, we do not keep track on its specifications since this is something that is then customized by the system builder at a BIOS level as they wish.

We recommend you contacting HP* for benchmarking data/comparison on the systems they are building.
