I should point out that the Core 2 Quad does not have a Memory Controller only the i3,i5 & i7 have that which makes the problem to be either the Motherboard or just bad RAM...have you increased the RAM voltage? Or tried one ram stick at a time?

Hi,

my system featuring a q9550s is experiencing hangs after 1 or 2 days uptime.

Once the system hangs if rebooted and a memtest86 is performed, every single operation fails.

If the system is switched off, 10/15 seconds are waited, and then the system is switched on and memtest is performed, no failure appears.

I was pointed out could be a memory controller issue,

is it possible? what I can do to verify it is the problem?

Hi,

RAM voltages are set to the one specified by the manufacturer for that model.

I'm in the process of trying one stick at the time... one of the two stick already showed the behavior! The second is on now...

Anyway thank you for the information you provided!
